Today, I scored a virgin 2800 receiver and ROM2 card from a friend at work!!!! Now I have to see if my home-made JTAG will work or not. I have done (2) 3800's, but this is my first 2800.

I spoke too soon. Upon further investigation the card is a ROM 10. Is this thing writeable since it has never been in the stream???

Check what rev it is,unplug sat cable from ird put cam in ,go to system info,menu 613 and see what it says,without the rev we can't tell ya.
Don't worry as long as cable is unplugged it won't be stream locked.

Its open,now go ahead and practice your Rom 10 programming,either add RTM(TIERS) or NBC(WIDE OPEN),the choice is yours and as we have explained many times before,NBC is wide open and more easier to hit than RTM if you create your tiers to be near as damn it legit,good luck.;)

Can someone tell me what is so good about a Rom 2 card for Dish? Is a Rom 2 for BEV just as good?

Programmed well they are very hard to hit.As for your second ?should be but as bev really hasn't been active in this field,we can't really tell......I f you have one and want to sell it let me know;)

Depends on what system....this is good for bev,but make sure you have a valid camId....
