Need some help here folks. Kinda a newbie, just to charley. I'm an old "daver". My 3900 got hit and I was trying to re-flash TSOP, but I did something wrong. I WAS able to connect and detect and even read boxkeys a few min ago, but then I clicked on ERASE in JKeys and it came back within about 5 seconds. Now I can't detect anything. I just get a DCU peek error when I start jKeys, and no led on unit. I know I did something wrong, but how to recover. I see lots of great guides on 301s, but none for 3900's :( If anyone can help, it'll be in here....... thanx

you needed to erase sector sa 30 and hook it back up to the stream.if that is what you did try hooking it back up to the satellite signal to see if it will update.

I don't think sector erase will pull it back, especially if you can't read the flash to sector erase. I would do a full flash with a matching build.

I'm thinking on the same line as Larry, but I can't get it to respond at all. Do I need to use something other than jKeys to accomplish this?

DCU peek means that the processor is unavailable because its busy. Unplug receiver. Hold pad 1 low (ground). Plug in receiver. Open jkeys. Hit detect and see what happens.

Just for laughs, try another version of jkeys. Are you using a buffered or resisted jtag?

I'm using a resistored jtag, but I may as well try a buffered. I actually have a backup of the TSOP which was made with all the same cabling, soldered so no connection issues. maybe I'l look for an earlier version if jKeys. I'm using the latest and greatest. Thanks for suggestions. I'll post my results, if it ever comes alive........

Since the flash is erased, it doesn't know the model now, Ground jtag port pad 1, Try jtagging, You want to get the processor chip to appear in the jkeys read, then manually select 3900 in the ird drop down list, Now try reflashing it.

When you say ground jtag port pad 1, I assume you are saying the one that is unused correct, since the jtag actually starts on pad 2?

When I ground that and force to model 3900 on menu I get "errror writing routine image", then "could not initiate access". Does this sound familiar????

yes, pad 1 is the unused one. Before you do that, try clicking on flash programming, unplug your reciever, plug it back in and click ok before 3 seconds, see if that works. I have a 3900, never had a connection problem with it.

Thanks tvo. I got it working. I think the ultimate problem was the length of my parallel connection. It was about 12 inches. Shortened to 8 and NP. Now I just have to deal with the 019 prob everyone is talking about. I load 2.2.2 all is fine. Load 2.2.4 just get 019 ????????
