testing with a 5900 pvr

ok, i recently bought a 5900 bev system. now i have an older avr that i could program and try to use, but i am not to sure if this would be a good thing or not. i havent found a whole pile of info on digital locks. but was wondering if i should have on on my system before i do anything at all, beecause i dont know if an ecm will hurt the hard drive in my receiver?? so i was thinkin that if someone could just flat out tell me what i would need to get goin, that would be great. and i have read a bit in the magic card forum, they sound like they r a great thing, should i maybe be biting the bullet and just gettin myself one of them?? anythin anyone could tell me would be great.

Go to the receivers forum, read about the 510's, the same thing essentially, xcept with bev there is no need to re-size the harddrive.
