Yep, I have one, and I will say that I am very happy with it. But note, you need a pretty fast computer to use it. With the TwinHan, all the video decoding is done by your processor. There are cards that do the decoding on-board, but they are a bit more expensive. I run an Athlon XP 2200+, and I watch tv and surf the web with no problems (dual monitors). I have a friend who is running the 1020A on a P3-800mhz machine. He is running XP with unnecessary services shut off (blackviper.com) and has 384m ram. He says it works great. Anything slower than that will probably not give good results.
If you decide to buy one, I think you will be pleased. They are a little harder to set-up than a fta receiver ( I guess that's just an opinion, cause I think j-tag and flashing is harder than what I have to do ), but they are easier to keep working cause I can do it myself and don't have to wait for new bin file. And with a decent video card with s-video out, you can watch on your TV.
As I said, I am very happy with mine, and I think PCI DVB cards are the way to go for testing purposes....

Hi D O Geezer,
I'm wondering if you can offer some guidance since you have this thing up and running. I have been reading as much as I can and working on it for the past 3 weekends for several hours at a time with limited results.
I have card installed OK, set to the 119 satellite. MyTheatre 3.07, I pick up the NASA, Dish info, and a few other unscrambled channels. So I think my basic setup is OK. No luck with the scrambled.
I see there seems to be 2 types of setup. One with an MDPlugins subdirectory with Yanksee and Nagra.key, the other setup with just Plugins directory with Softcam.key. I've tried every combination of directories and places to put Yanksee, Fenrir, Nagra.key or Softcam.key No luck. I did go under ECM and EMM settings and try both options.
Could you describe what setup works for you and anything else I should check. I'm sure this thing will work great once I get over the setup step. I'm trying to learn as I go but it's been frustrating.

Sure, you said you get NASA and other FTA channels, so you don't have a directshow filters problem,, good. You need to put yankse.dll, yankse.ini, yankse.prv and softcam.key into the plugins folder of My Theatre. You need to be using Yankse 1.31. Don't worry about Fenrir until you have your card working. Fenrir just gets the new public keys, and they haven't changed in a while.
If this doesn't work, right-click on the channel in the list, select Properties, and choose the 1800 ECM and EMM, then click Apply. This should get you going...
A good site with only info on PCI DVB cards: http://dvbn.happysat.org/. This is a forum so you can ask any questions you have and there are a lot of knowledgable people there.

I can't get this thing to work. I had given up on it but seems like I will have to give it another try. What I have is a DP500 dish and a dish 300 going into a DP34 From there I have tried to use the receiver connection of the DP34 and plugged it in the Twinhan card but I don't even get any signal. I have also tried disconnected the sat signal from DP34 switch and plugged it in the Disque switch that came with the PCI card but still no signal. Can you guys post some steps for me. I'm thinking it might be something to do with me using a video card that has tv hookups. I have read that it might cause a problem but not sure.

Do I need a leagacy type dish. Because I can't get NASA channel. I have a Dish Pro LNB. or is it because I'm not using the DiSEqc. I do get the channels but they are all in red. When I load the yankse plugin it says invalid key. I just get the blackscreen but the text on the bottom scrolls. I appriciate your help crippie. Let me know if I can help with dishnet stuff.

Sorry that worked I get video now using your pugins, but now I think the problem is that I don't have legacy dish to receive the horizontal signal.
What happened was that I unzipped the files in the plugins folder but instead of puting the files there it made a new folder and put files in there. after I put the files in the plugin folder I restarted my theatre and got video.
Thanks crippie. I'll get this figured out yet.

sukh77, I think you need a special .ini file to scan the sats with. I'm not familiar with the Dishpro, but you can find info at http://www.al7bar.tk/forums/ or http://dvbn.happysat.org/
Both of these sites have info on PCI DVB cards, and are good sources for files...

yup I had already been there but didn't get to do that much reading on them yet. I got both in my favorites. Thanks I'm up and running just missing some channels, and I think I need the old style dish lnb instead of the new Dish pro. Because when you add a legacy IRD to the dishpro system you will not all the channels, and I think this is what is happening but I will keep reading or till someone posts that they have a dishpro setup and its working fine.

Hey Sukh77, try these Ini's just made them...don't have a dishpro to test them out tho. let me know if it works.

That was the problem thanks. But the guide doesn't work, I will work on this I think its because I don't have dish 119 connected. Let me do this right now and will post later.

11-18-2004, 05:13 AM
downloaded it but haven't tried it. I have all channels on my homemade dish. never tried a Dishpro dish on a twinhan so i didn't have a sat ini for it.just kinda threw that one together... need to get a DP so I can test all options I think.

well not really homemade...just a D*ve 18" dish with lnb's super glued to each other.

11-19-2004, 01:54 AM
Hey that's funny. I have used the dave's dish but didn't super glue yet. Hey also there is an error in the files I posted. I thought I had it figured out but not. I have to use this file in conjuction with your's to get lot more channels. May I ask where did you get the info for the freq. I checked it at lyngsat and it only had the ones I posted. The ones in your file aren't there but they work. I have to add some H freq to the ones you have and get lot more. this is on the 110 sat. I will delete that file I posted after I figure this out completely.

This is a C&P from Dipper on another site , haven't tried this yet but give it a try and post your findings.
You'll need to edit your channel list with gTools. Highlight the satellite you want to edit and then make your changes to each transponder in the middle section.

Crippie - I was messing around with MT. Lost the video. I have since reformated the harddrive and installed a fresh copy of MT. Still no Video. I know the keys changed I have edited the softcam.key to accept the key, but still no video. I have also tried Softcamkey server which downloads the softcam.key it still doesn't work. Any suggestion on what all I need to change when the keys change. I'm Doing some reading on the other sites, will post if I find anything.

sukh77, I have a little better set-up for the PCI DVB card. This set-up auto-rolls the keys, so you don't have to edit the softcam to keep your card running. I will attach my Plugins folder so you can try it out..
In this set-up, the softcam has only the MECM files, and Yankse picks up the keys from Nagra.key file. Fenrir gets the new keys from the TS, and writes the keys to Nagra.key. Yankse looks in the .key files for the public keys. It finds no public keys in the softcam, so it looks in the Nagra.key. It works, great.
If you want to try this file, just rename your Plugins to OldPlugins or something, and place the attached Plugins folder in the main folder of My Theatre. Start the software right click in the viewing screen and choose Plugins>Fenrir. Put a check mark in the box MONITOR and check the menu and enable Fenrir. As soon as fenrir finds the keys, the video will start working. You can leave fenrir enabled or not, as the keys don't change that often. I didn't include the Nagra.key, so we can be sure that fenrir is getting the keys...

I apologize if the question sounds stupid, but are you telling me that you have been able to watch scrambled dishnetwork channels on a PCI card receiver? Not only the FTA channels? And if so, have you been able to watch them all (ppv, hbo's, etc)?

gtapias - That is true.
Thanks for the file d_o_geezer. I must have just changed some much shit that I screwed it up. I had just downloaded all that stuff but I guess I had to go to the channel properties and select auto ecm and emm.

12-08-2004, 06:56 AM
sukh77, you shouldn't have to change anything in channel properties. You only want to enable fenrir so it can get the keys. You should be able to right-click in the viewing screen and select Plugins. Then choose Fenrir. A new window will open. There is a box there that you can check that says "monitor". Put a check mark in that box. At the top of the window, there is a menu. Click on that menu and select Enable. You should see an asterisk blinking next to 0020 in the window. If not, put a check mark in the box next to 0020. Fenrir will now be looking for keys. When it finds the keys, the video will start working...
Also, there is .dll file in my Plugins folder that automatically selects the 1800 ECM and EMM... You shouldn't have to mess with channel properites at all.....
sukh77
12-08-2004, 06:59 AM
Yeah that was when I didn't use the plugins you posted. On one channel I had selected the wrong ecm and emm. I had to change it back to auto and it worked after it updated nagra.key.

Hi all,
Just registered. I also have the TwinHan 1020A but I'm not trying to get Dish or Bev with it. For that I'm using the Pansat 2500a and working great.
I'm using this PCI card for getting some Chinese channels on various sats with a motor. How do I go about getting the scrambled Chinese channels to descramble? Is it the same procedures as above but with different Softcamkey? Where are these files?
I've checked some other sites and it's very confusing.
Thanks a ton.

Forgot to mention that it's all set up and running, getting both the unscrambled and scrambled to scan just can't watch the scrambled ones. Took me like a month to do it 'til I knew the ins and outs of the whole mess.
Thanks again.

12-10-2004, 01:16 AM
dss_diehard, you didn't tell us which sat and channels you are trying to get. Check with www.lyngsat.com to see which encryption system is used with the channels you want to see. Maybe you can descramble, maybe not...
dss_diehard
12-10-2004, 02:05 AM
Oops. Ok, for example, on Telstar 5 there are some channels using Viaccess 2.3. Some other channels on other sats are I think using Nagravision1. So I guess it comes down to the encryption system used? Will the keys or ECM's be the same as DN or BEV?
Also these are linear Ku band channels/sat if it matters any.
Thanks again.

Hey guys I asked Mili to make a DVB section in the files section. He sent me an e-mail back saying it was done maybe it will take little bit of time before it takes effect. Then we can post all of our files there.
