Newbie = Unsure of next move or equipment

I'm a Dishnet rookie that's been outhegame since Dave killed the P3. I have read many of the how to's from this and other sites but am still a little unclear as to what I need to get up and running. I have a #3900 IRD, a Magic Card w/ Programmer, & a buffered JTag.
I also have a Rom10 @ A23 - locked card right?
The IRD that I have was supposedly updated by Echostar - Copyright 2003
Software Ver. P090CLGD-N
Boot Strap Ver. 12CBCLGD

Will this firmware in this IRD be OK to use or does it need to be erased and replaced with an older version that Charlie has changed for his benefit? If so, what version and where can I get that older version of that firmware?
As for the JTag interface - I didn't find any definative pad configuration for the 3900 IRD (7 pads) and the pogo pins on the holder are not marked. Can I assume that the TRST pin is the 1st pin next to the empty slot in the pin holder?
I now have subbed Dishnet service with new #322 and #522 IRD's - no Roms. Should I use the "card" numbers from their system setup info for type of Magic card setup?

Would I be better off trying to get the Rom10 card opened and use that with the married\subbed Magic card? If so, how can I get there from here?

I probably am missing something right now, so any suggestions or recommendations will be much appreciated

dude get the A23 popped and use plastic, just set the tiers nice and u will be ok...

As far as I know you should be fine with the firmware. Go to bellexpress.vu for a really good guide on the JTAGing. Has diagrams for a ton of receivers, including the 3900.

Looks like you have all you need if you have a dish pointed at 110 & 119. the latest sortware version is best I think its P231. Go to the download section on this site and find (301 & 508 jkeys) and (crash course jkeys and flash edit) this is the software for your JTAG inside is complete instructions and pics to attatch your JTAG refer to 2700/2800/3700 Pic.

1) Makes sure location ID in menu opts. 3900 is not 0000001
2) Backup your TSOP chip with jkeys 2mb and your eeprom 2kb.
3) While you are still in jkeys.Copy (write down) your box keys and IRD #.
4)Now you should let the IRD sit in the stream (Connected to sat) pluged in and turned off, without a card to update software to P231
5) After complete good idea to backup TSOP + eeprom again (save update) Done with IRD

Now program your magic card for camless rom3 or 10 using the box keys and IRD# you got from jkeys, use (scammer) from download section to generate cam ID If you need one. Or better yet use the cam off the ROM 10.
Go watch TV
You will have to build a glicher to unlock the ROM 10 or have someone pop it for you.
