I have a non-working Pansat 2100A receiver that appears to be dead. Does not light up. Can it be reflashed or jtaged or something or is it a doorstop. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I would first check the power suppy and see if that is OK I have not taken one apart, because I have 2500 but if it has a switch in back like mine I would check that switch also. I dont think u can flash with no power or jtag it.

Hmm, what caused the unit to power off? Either the power supply went bad or you had a download that failed. I do not test the 2100 or have any files for this unit but know the format that works for the 2500A when no power will also work for the 2100. The units will take a flash of bin or boot when there is no power. The pansat units can be revived possibly by other means than jtagging. Download the current factory bin file from pansatusa and turn the reset button in the rear to the on position. After turning the reset button on, wait a couple of seconds if there is no lights, click download with your loader. Be sure you are flashing to the bin file. You may have to do this several times until you get the timing right. When it is finished downloading, the receiver should come back on. If it does, it is fixed. Then load the current bin file you use to deciper the signal for the 2100A. If it still does not come up, try loading the current boot file to the boot for the 2100A following the same format as you did for the bin file above. Be sure you are downloading to the boot. If none of the flash approaches work, then it is time to jtag the unit.

If all we said fails, was just at a site where 2500 had the same prob u have no power.. One guy said it may be a internal fuse.
It's a 2amp, 250V fuse. You can replace it with anything similar as long as it's a 2amp/150V or so fuse (you won't have 250V from North American current). You can even use an inline fuse and solder the leads in place of the two legs of the solid state fuse. There is an electrolytic capacitor very near it. Check it out for signs of failure. It is a semi-frequent problem if there is a heat problem. It will fail quickly under heat and that can cause the fuse to pop. At any rate, try to locate the cause of the fuse failure before simply replacing it. C/P from site.

How do I know which version to download? I think that the reason this unit died was because my son was trying to download an upgrade and didn't let it complete.

mb check out hounds post where he says go to pansatusa and find your model and get factory flash and boot file for 2100a. Follow his instructions & try flash first then boot if flash does not work.

Here is a file containing v5 of the factory bin for the 2100. Out of curoisity, since this is a discontinued model of Pansat and predecessor to 2300A, does the 2300 bins work on this receiver for dish and bev?
