I am trying to load a bin to my Pansat 2500a. But the download is not working. I think it maybe my cable. Everything else checks out ok. I have a 9 pin cable (male/male) connected to my PC and to my reciever. But all of the instructions that I have read call for a "RS 232C cable (not Null/twisted)". How do I know what kind of cable I have? What does "Null/twisted" mean?

NOTE: This is my every first time with DishNet. Been with DTV for way to long!;)

Hi!

If you look at the end of your cable wire you will see the numbers 1-5 on top row
you will need a magnifying glasses unless you have real good eyes.
It sould be the same on both sides.
the numbers 1-5 on top and 6-9 on bottom is straight throw cable.

OK that is what I have. Basicly that is the only cable that will fit. I guess I have a different problem. Thanks

Hi! To flash your pansat 2500a turn power off on back, have your tool loader with bin ready then turn power back on , as soon as you see the first green light on front of your reciever then press ok to download the flash to your reciever wait until it says complete then you should be done,if your using the new blacklist 237 bin then no need for channel list as channels get named as you scan at least it did for me on all 11 birds.
good luck...

good luck...Hey Wolf, need a little clarafication as to what you said here with v2.37 flash. If I understand you correctly you are saying the keys will turn on without a channel list being loaded? If the channel bin is empty cause of reset or new boot, previous bin versions would not let you access the code function to turn on the default keys. Can you verify if this has changed now when flashing the v2.37? :p hound

Hi! All I did was flashed with the new bin then scanned my sat and noticed channels were being named as I scanned did not need to first put channel list on
did`nt even have to turn keys on they were set already.

blacklist must of put alot of work into this bin,I`m on west coast time I got all my right locals and everything .
getting channels that I did`nt before as well.

Here`s the one I used ;

Blacklist 85BL_2500a_041106_237_api(N).bin

I know I am using the right port so it is all good there. I just tried what xwolfs7 suggested and no luck. Keep getting "Flash update fail..." I have used both AL7BAR updater (w/ flash Rom file selected) and STB updater. Both give me the same error. Am I over looking something easy?

Hi! How long is your RS232 cable ,I tried one 10ft would`nt work,I have a 6ft cable I use now works good,I also read some people had problems using win Xp
and also read some people just had a bad wire.

Try another cable if you can.

Just bought a new 6 ft cable and update was complete. I was using a 10 ft. I guess big is NOT better!!!! Now all I loaded was blacklist-x-85bl-2500a-041106-327. Is that all I need to load before I hook it to my Dish Legacy Quad 500?

The newer flashes by Bl do have the ability to have better channel naming as this has been there since v2.35 flash. You must have something already in the channel memory when you flash the v2.37 (the receiver is not new or been reset) or else you could not access the code function to activate the keys loaded in the flash. This is what I was asking if changed. Tks.

If you are using the correct cable, using the correct port, trying disabling your antivirus and any firewalls.
Try varying your count went turning on the receiver and time of hitting download. If no luck, you may want to try a different loader tool.
