3500 IRD. Will the MC work with this ird? Also how would you extract the IRD# and BOXKEY# if ti is not JTAGable?? Or is this a ird that is not worth testing, like the 3200 ird?? thanks

I'm sure it will work fine with The MC, but yes, it's more compatible to a 3200.
If you have the card that came with the 3500, then the Boxkeys can be extracted , if not , then I would spring for a Jtaggable IRD, such as a 2700/2800/3700 or 3800/3900 or 4700/4900 and then you have the 3100's or 301's all are much better testing IRd's than the 3000 series.

Thanks 1/2pint, I have 3900's. I just saw a 3500 and wanted to know if anyone has tested with it. I see you can get the IRD# from the sys info screen. But your saying the only way you can get the Box Key # is from the smart card... Theres know way you can get in the tsop to get the keys?? Also if the Smart card info[numbers] are displayed in the SYS INFO,, would they be the same as the BOX KEY #??? thanks

The smartcard is the easiest way to get the boxkeys from a 3500.

It can be done by extracting them from the TSOP.

Not a easy process. It requires removing the TSOP from the receiver and using a TSOP programmer to get them. For that method you will need the proper hot air soldering/desoldering equipment. See the thread on fixing a 7100/7200 for info on equipment for both extracting and reading and writing the TSOP.

As a cost effective method of testing it bites. As a learning and ego boosting experience it's first rate.

A cost-effective means of extracting the box keys DOES exist. PM me if you want more info.
