Was working on one of my 301-010 receivers today. Lost signal and dosen't see the switch.
Looking at the back sticker I saw 'Made in USA'.
When I opened up the unit just happened to look at the motherboard info.
It says:
Designed in UK
Assembled in mexico
PCB made in China
Charlie must have some big ones to outright lie on the sticker like that. Or maybe the case was made in the US. I doubt it!

That means that the sticker was made in the USA, bro.
'Made in the USA' now days almost certainly means assembled in the USA. Cars are that way too and almost everything else. We hire offshore manufacturers to manufacture parts and then ship them to us, then we assemble them here and say we made it. It's the American way now days. Pretty pathetic I know, but fact are facts.
I challenge anyone to find a non-perishable product that is 100% made in the USA. If it's electronic, it shure as hell was not made in the USA.

Larry I think your 100% spot on. Never even considered that possiabilty and I bet charlie thought everyone else would never realize that just like me.
Just glad there are a few places you can get the whole truth instead of just small unexplained tid bits of it.

Wanna bet the ones with a USA sticker over a Mexico sticker are re-furbs?

I can't remember how many of them that I had like that, but none of them looked like they had ever been touched, except for the few that I got from people that attepted to mod it before they sent to me.
I don't know if the ones like that are refurbs or not, just an idea........
I have one that says "made in USA with US and imported parts".

Referb in charlie's world usually means screwing it up with a update that dosen't take properly. Exchanging the receiver for a couple bucks. Then manually updating the TSOP at the repair center. Most likely using jkeys to do it ;^). Box it back up and send it out to the next customer.
I really doubt they do much repair where they actually replace parts. Cost would be a killer considering what they can build a new one for.

That is very true, but I have seen refurb 501's with the chips changed to GT, they have a very good method of changing chips, but if you look closely you can tell.
So I figure if it is a simple repair, they may do that too, if they send them to the RCA plant in Juarez, they only pay those guys about $1.00/hr, so cost is low.
