I'm tired with MagicCard, I would like to go for emulation. Where should I start to read? Thanks a lot.

Emulation isn't a huge issue here, but I dable in it myself. I recommend CEMU as the engine, because it works well with minimal cpu. I also prefer an internal 2313-232 internal interface...very stable, raedily available, and cheap.I get my emu products from satemu.com.

I use YVOUS 3.0 with an external max/mel (2313-232) set up. Got it form Satemu like larry. I've gotten several things from them w/ no problems. I recommend them. I've never used CEMU, but from experience, I can tell you YVOUS is extremely simple. Just have to change 2 or so values in an .ini file (based on the receiver you have), and that's it, up an running (as far as the actual program goes). You still need to flash the chip on the emu board (which is simple). That's my 2 cents.

If you like to solder, you can use an internal Max/Mel board that is alread flashed, just install, run a cable to the Puter, run YvoudEmu, watch lots of TV.

Himeros :)

After popping one of the caps that's right behind the card slot. i decided to make My owned drawing so those who are not technically handy, can better understand how to wire there 1 chip emu. Here is a drawing that I made using paint shop pro This setup is working fine for me . I'm using a 3900 and 2700 works flawlessly. all pay per view wide open with no blackouts. I pull this Atmel chip from one of my old super unlooper that was gathering dust. All I did was to flash the chip with Emu flash maker and wired this to my 3900 internally. I'm using YvousEmu software with this setup. If you are handy with a soldering iron and can follow instructions you will be watching TV in no time. Enjoy DertyDevil .

You will need

1 EmuFlashmaker makes ROM 3 10 11 flash.
2 FBPRG16. flashes the chip trough the printer port.
3 YvousEmu 3.0 runs on win 98 2000 XP

Thank you BiggerBear. I did this picture because theres one picture in Blk and White floating around the net . So I fallowed the instructions just like in that picture and blew a capacitor on my 2700. I managed to replace that capacitor and everything is fine now. I didn't want anybody to have the same experience. That is why I made that drawing so we can all enjoy some fine TV. Ham Tech here 73s DertyDevil

Thanks for the great info on dsshelper got me wonka file and updated my Payperview wide open once again. This on chip emu is on the money. BiggBear you Tha Man.

Just a question about saftey, is an emu board illegal? Has anyone ever got in trouble for buying one?

BiggerBear

vmod32 - 203 posts and your asking now.
I wouldn't call Dishnet or BEV for help setting up your Emulator !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dosn't matter if anyone has been caught - Look at DTV sending out letters and filing court cases years after Emulators, programmers and Bootboards were bought.
If there is a trail to you anything could happen.

Shit I just got off the phone with them.

I know all that, I never use a CC for any of this stuff. I was just wondering if anyone has ever gotten in trouble for a dish netowrk emulator, or even a dtv emulator.

Here is a nice drawing that I did . I'm sure that this will help out some of the testers out there.
much more clearer than my previous drawing.

Is chip Atmel AT90S2313-10PC or Atmel AT90S2313-10PI means PC at the end or PI at the end?

Is chip Atmel AT90S2313-10PC or Atmel AT90S2313-10PI means PC at the end or PI at the end?

Both should work just fine ...One is a Commercial grade (PC) while the other one is Industrial grade (PI)....

I have spent the last weekend making a maxmel emu, atmel prog, buffered jtag and doing vid mod for 310.13. The jtag works great, have backed up tsop + eeprom, and done rom3 mod. Problem is I am now not quite sure how to proceed with emu - can someone post reqd steps or point me to a guide please.
I gather I need to flash the atmel 1st - but not sure what I should put on it. (use emu flashmaker ?)
Then need to setup emu on pc ?

also a question : why do you need a pc connected - can't the atmel do all the work ?

Flash 383.hex on your Atmel

The atmel holds the RS232 interface program only and not the ROM, CAM and boxkeys. This is why a computer is needed.

Try Yvous or Cemu for the program.

These Are the Steps That Work For Me ---

Fbprg Flash Program
On Bootable Floppy

Plug programmer into printer port
Insert Atmel Chip in socket (line up notches)
Insert Boot Disk into "A" drive
Restart Computer

To load Hex to flash buffer - Hit Enter
Type The.hex that you put on the floppy(make sure it's named .hex)and - Hit Enter
Press any key to continue
Scroll down to Program (E) - Hit Enter
Press any key to continue
Scroll down to (X) Quit - Hit Enter
Remove Floppy from "A" drive
Ctrl - Alt - Delete to Exit

I have read this entire post but am not quite sure about a few things about emulation and am hoping someone can clearify things for me.

I have a internal emu board already hooked up, blue rom card and an Atmel AT90S8515 chip. The Atmel chip is from an old AVR card that was programmed using jeepers. Can I use the AVR card to program the Atmel chip using the program mentioned in the post or do I have to get a programer.

Finally, how do I set up the dos Cemue program to run so I get all the channels and don't get nagged every 30 minutes.

Thks & happy holidays everyone
Rayman

Rayman

All of us here are running with the 1 or the 2 chip emu. I personally like the AT90S2313-10PC one chip emu with all of my receivers. it's over one week and nobody has given you and answer concerning the AT90S8515 chip. if I was testing with that chip i would have being more than happy to assist you. Your AVR board has a 40 pin
the AT90S2313-10PC has only 20 pins. If you have a bootloader with the 20 pin socket then yes you can program the ATMEL chip. but not the 40 pin. I'm testing with the one chip and running the software Yvous on windows 98SE not in dos.
you can still use your PC to do other things on your PC without interrupting the Yvous program. There are a few of us here that rather use this one chip setup instead of plastic.
plastic on Flebay runs about 40 to 60 and the one chip 2.75 up to 5.00 Charlie can't ECM this yet. If something goes wrong all you lose is 2.50 verses 60 dollar card. buy the one chip the 20 pin socket and a 1 By 2 inch board serial wire. look here in this thread on how to wire the chip to the receiver. you will be watching TV in no time.
If any body here would like to help Rayman, with the AT90S8515 please I have no idea about that chip.
