Whats the differnce between the reg 301 and the 301 that has the commercial software on it. I was on ebay and i even saw that they have 3900 with commerial software on the receivers ?

It usually means that the IRD was used by a smatv cable company in use at a university, apartment complex, hospitall etc etc.....there is no difference in the software, it just means when the IRD took it's initial trip it was only authorized for one channel that it was meant to stay on all the time, the output would then go to a modulator and then out into a cable system....
