you didint say that in the posting.
Are you using 301-508 jkeys?
did you repair any trace cuts after removing the lock?

try pm'ing skinerd as he knows a hell of a lot about the 501 and locks, i dont have locks on mine, and never installed one, but i know most people have problem when they do, and repairing trace cuts and grounding pad 1 or jumpering OJ1 usually gets them back into the unit.

Sounds like you did not get something correctly wired when installing the lock. If you remove the lack, just jumper the we#0 and we#1 points together.
I have seen a lot of bad lock installs, some due to wrong connections and some due to faulty soldering, you need fairly good soldering technique to mess around inside a 510, and the smaller the wire the better, I use 30 gauge wire only.

if i remove the lock and jumper the we0 and we1 do i still repair thetracecut or still leave it cut

see the whole thing is when i first installed the lock and powered up the receiver both lights on the lock where on but the lock position light was flickering so i checked the front of the receiver and no lights where on so i thought maybe i did a bad trace cut and i went tried to redo the trace cut and the spot where the trace cut needs to be is a pain in the ass anyways after doing doing that i booted up the receiver thats when both lights came on the receiver

Are you sure you did not get carried away and cut something you should not have?

well....when i was cutting trace it is right next to this tiny chip i dont know if i damaged it or not but i do know when i was soldering we#0 it is next to the same chip and some ofthe solder went in between the pins but i removed it.is there any hope for this dvr

Yes, there is hope if you have not damaged anything....but where else did you allow solder to get into. I use a good magnifying lamp in order to see what I am doing, and can see very clearly to solder and cut inside the PVR and other receivers.

Check your ground!

Make sure your pad 1 is NOT grounded for normal operation; it needs to be grounded ONLY for writing.

Hope this helps!

well...............this is what happened now you know the tiny chip next to the trace cut it says the numbers 33o on it anyways i was rechecking to see if there was any solder in between the pins and some how ...................i removed that chip accidently is there anyway to repair this now...i have several 301 receivers can i take the chip out that says 330 on it and place it in the pvr or is there an easier way....thanks.............also for any one who plans on intalling a lock or any type of mod to a receiver make sure you have all the proper tools ,i have installed 60-70 locks never had a problem but im in the process of moving i did not know where my tools where so i just used any soldering iron that i found and any wire...learn from my mistake

That330 chip is only 33 ohms, you can just short it out.

skinerd so if i have completely removed the 330 chip is there any way to revive this box if so what do i need to do

install a jumper or new resistor, you talking about the single 330 or the 4 in 1 330? i have to replace the 4 in 1 330 in a 501 and thinking of using just 1/4 watt 33 ohm resistors

it is a 8 pin 330 chip

That is a 4 resistor SM array, I think, if I remember correctly, only 3 of them are used, but all 3 are isolated and need to remain that way.

so can it be replaced with just resistors?
