I checked the system Info couple of times and the Location ID is been changing, this is noramal. I do not have any problems with the programming every thing looks greate.
i would also like to get a local channel on the bird 105, could i use a 300 dish or do i need to get a superdish, I checked the dishnetwork web site and they require a superdish. my ird has the option to get the 105 bird.
Thanks,

Yes on location ID question
You could use a 300 or 500 dish with a single DP (superdish) LNB but I think you are going to have to pair it with an other DP twin for 110 119. You can't mix legacy and DP LNBs. Tie them together with a DP switch for 3 birds. Someone correct me If you have a way to run DP and legacy LNBs together.
All this also depends on whether your 3900 supports DP I dont think it does.

3900 is not a DP receiver and will require a DP adapter to run on a DP lnb.

Couldn't you use a just a legacy lnb for the 501 and use a sw21X switch to tie it into the other two birds? You don't need a DP lnb to pick up the 105, I am pretty sure on that. If you have legacy lnbs for the 110 and 119 you can use legacy for the 105 but you will need a sw21X switch to tie them into one. You may also require a older primestar dish to get good signal on that 105, I think it is a weak bird.

This brings up a question for me. I just a couple days ago installed a Sat-C kit on a HDTV Triple dish for getting the HDTV channels on DTV for a friend.
While checking it out it seems to be just a standard single LNB with a different freq range. Will this LNB work for DN's 105 and 121 sats? If so it was dirt cheap. Picked it up at a site for 26.00 US. If it will work seems a cheap simple solution for the 105 and 121 birds on DN.
The paperwork did not specify in detail about frequency ranges but the LNB was very different in shape and size from the standard lnb's at the 101 and 119 positions. I'm wondering if DTV is using the same sort of sat's for their HDTV as DN is using for the 105 and 121 locals.
If so you may be able to get away with a DN 500 dish and a DTV sat-C kit for a 121 or 105 setup. Then get the right switch depending on your current setup. Might work out a lot cheaper then getting a SuperDish.

I don't think this will work, but I don't know for sure. Doesn't Charlie use standard LNB's for 105 and 121 in stock systems? That sat-c 110 lnb that Dave uses is a freak and Dave 110 is the only application I've ever seen it used for. I think that's exactly what Dave's intentention is. I think this falls into the catagory of if you don't try it we'll never know for sure. An Echostar receiver may deliver too much voltage for this to work. The sat-c lnb is lower voltage, but that's about all I know about it.
