Look in Emulation beginners how to thread. No digital lock or soft lock needed to emulate with the One chip Emu.

I didn't think soft locks worked anymore, and hard locks are sometimes a target. If you should happen to get that dreaded ECM, just erase the bad sector and you will be going again a few minutes. Works for me, but everyone has their own idea.

What about the 8515 chip. I have one and have heard that it will work also. I have only been able to find out how to solder it up to flash it. Does anyone have info on how to set it up with the contact points of ird.

Don't waste your time. Just buy the Atmel. You can get the AT90S2313-10PI($4 plus shipping) that I used on all of my Emu's and you know they work. It will work as the One Chip Or the 2 Chip Emu.
JDR.com has them and sometimes E-bay
