Ok guys, I posted awhile back how I had a wire com loose from my vidmod on my 013 and had to resolder it and when I went to check continuity I hear a funny little noise and I burned up the receiver because I forgot to unplug the damn thing! No worky worky no more you know? lol, I figured I'd put this in humor because I was pissed but now it is just funny, I know I am not alone here and am wondering if anyone else would like to share a story about burning up a IRD. Don't make me feel like the only idiot in the world because I know it isn't true, jump on in and share your story too.

No you're not alone I didn't have a receiver that I burned up I just took my two front dentures and put them in a napkin while I was eating and later on during the day I went to clean out my pockets and thru away the napkin. At the present I'm still missing two front teeth. I've got burned up wires in my head after my operation . How about melted ice cream because I put it into the frig and not the freezer when I was finish scooping out the ice cream. Oh let's not forget about the people who have locked themselves out of their automobile (LOL). Just the other day my daughter got stuck in the snow and I got into her car to help here get unstuck and had to ask my son about the shifter and which position it should be when your trying to get it in reverse ( Now mind you I'm a professional over the road truck driver) So don't feel bad someone out there is worst off than you are . Have A Great Day!! And HO HO HO!!

A beautiful innocent young girl wants to meet Santa Claus so she puts on a robe and stays up late on Christmas Eve. Santa arrives, climbs down the chimney, and begins filling the socks. He is about to leave when the girl, who happens to be a gorgeous redhead, says in a sexy voice, "Oh Santa, please stay. Keep the chill away." Santa replies, "HO HO HO, Gotta go, gotta go, Gotta get the presents to the children, you know." The girl drops the robe to reveal a sexy bra and panties and says in an even sexier voice, "Oh Santa, don't run a mile; just stay
for a while..."
Santa begins to sweat but replies, "HO HO HO, Gotta go, Gotta go. Gotta get the presents to the children, you know." The girl takes off her bra and says, "Oh Santa... Please... Stay." Santa wipes his brow but replies, "HO HO HO, Gotta go, Gotta go, gotta get the presents to the children, you know." She loses the panties and says, "Oh Santa... Please... Stay...." Santa, with sweat pouring off his brow, says, "HEY HEY HEY, Gotta stay, Gotta stay, Can't get up the chimney with my pecker this way!!!"

Well the santa story reminded me of frying a 301 once.
It was summer and hot. I had just installed my superdish and needed a couple more DP receivers since only DP's worked the DP switch included with the superdish.
I had a couple brand new 301's with a dual system I picked up at wall wart a couple years back still in the box.
Pulled them out and proceeded to set them up for use. The first one was fixed up with no problem. All the usual fixes being 013's. Then I made the mistake of running the wire and hooking up the first one I modded instead of doing the post hookup work of vid modding and jtaging both at the same time.
After hooking up and checking operation of the first one I then proceded to fix up the second. At this point I was sweating a lot. As with all projects I get involved in. I tend to lose track of anything but the task at hand. I failed to notice the sweat dripping off my forehead into several parts of the PCB board of the 301. That is until plugging the receiver in to jtag and complete the vid mod. It suddenly hit me exactly what I had done after hearing the high pitched squeal and seeing the magical smoke rise from a few components.
I just managed to quell the urge to throw the receiver against a wall.
These days when the tempeture is high and the work needs to be done. I look like a yuppie with my sweat band around my head. Small price to pay I keep telling myself. That is until it started attracting that yuppie element in the neighborhood. Inviting me to go out jogging and attend cookouts and such. I think I would rather chance burning up another receiver!
For goodness sake! They drink wine instead of beer! Eat healthy food instead of food that tastes good. Now I have to get rid of my chevy and buy a BMW! Or a Volvo!
All this just because I sweated on a 301!
So count your blessings Crazy1 79. At least all you lost was a receiver. My little accident lead to yuppie hell. A much worse fate.
