View Full Version : PPV spread
Hi Everyone,
What’s an acceptable PPV spread these days to prevent an ECM using Yvous Emu, single chip and a 3700/3900 IRD?
I don’t have any problem generating a PPV string I just wanted to get a feel for the Low and High spread. I thought I read somewhere that if you take the Low ID and add 1500 that would be OK to run without an ECM problem.
I don’t mind generating new strings every 2 or 3 weeks if a tight string would work, I guess I just don’t know what the definition of a “Tight String” would be.
Thanks for your help.

Personally, I'd narrow it to + and - 100. It's a lot less hassle to fix than dragging your IRD out and reflashing it...

I Have Been Using This For A Year Now And Have Not Been ECM'd.
How To Find PPV Hi’s and Low’s------
Tune to a PPV channel with your receiver
On the remote hit the INFO button(not SYS INFO)
Each PPV has a 5 digit code number in prentices(55744)
Copy them and notice the Highest and Lowest.
You then round down the Lowest - If it’s 55744 round down to 55700
To get the Highest add 18000 to the Lowest ----55700 + 18000 = 73700
Some Say The Spread Should Be Less Than 2000, But I Have Been
Using A Spread Of 18000 And Have Been For A long Time.(It’s Up To You

If I tried that, I'd wear out my JTAG fixing it. Guess they don't like messing with bears.. :)
I don't use any spread at all anymore. I just use the exact high and low event id's. Now days your gonna have to change your string every two weeks at minimum anyway. May as well make it as tight as possible. Hehe, JT says he likes em' tight.. :p

Biggerbear and Chief I'm impressed by both of your amounts of knowledge in the testing forums, Kudos!
If I were starting from scratch building my tiers what steps would I need to take to add for my zip, PPV's and the like? Is there a blank ROM image that I should start with?
I see that the range of PPV's is somewhat subjective and somewhere between 100-18000 which is a fairly large difference. Will this increase the chance of ECM's, the large spreads?
Also, is there any advantage to running a ROM10 or ROM11 over a ROM3? I have a ROM10 card but am running a ROM3 from a number generated with Scammer? Why would I use one ROM over the other? does it impact the tiers (PPV's/Events)?

I use the dish383.bin from Yvous3 for my start bin then I make my PPV string(.ne3 File) with MiniRTM and then I patch the PPV.ne3 File to the Bin using NagraEdit.
As I said I use a spread of 18000. My dish383.bin will work with Yvous, Cemu and Chinaman as lon as you name it correctly. Again Here Is How I Make My Bin ---
This is how I make my dish383.bin and it works great. It seems like alot, but after a few times it's easy. Make sure you use the latest Tier lists for MiniRTM.

Thank's BiggerBear I'll make notes and keep the post above.
So what gives with ROM3, ROM10 and ROM11? Why the need to change?
What ROM version is the Dish383.bin?
Where does the blackout string come in and how also do I set locals? I realize this is probably more suited for card programming but while were on PPV's...

If Dish383.bin is the latest for a ROM3 then what is the latest for a ROM10 or ROM11? or is it irrelevant due to the .bins that came out with Cemu V2 there are some bins included?
I've also read that ROM10's are more susceptible to ECM's? is that due to having more channels/tiers?
I've seen your link before 001438 I'll study it more thoroughly. Is YATM the prefered program? I've also seen EZPPV and PPVstringMaker any thoughts on them?
Thanks,
The difference between a Rom3 and Rom10, if I am remembering correctly, is that a Rom10 has more tier space. You can add more channels without any problems even though I don't remember having any with my Rom3.
Dish383.bin is a Rom3 bin. 383 is the latest Rev that Rom3s are at.
Blackout strings and locals can be modified when making the tiers. There is a How-To in my signature if you want to learn how to write tiers.

miniRTM is the one I like the best, or if you want to make many tiers and patch them at the same time, Wonka is very good. You will have plenty of tiers using Rom3, but there should be no difference in one over the other for ECM's. The main thing about tiers, make sure you have the EventID in the middle of your tier spread, and ending date about right.

Are you creating just one tier for both porn and ppv? It seems like with the 18000 spread you are using it covers both.
