View Full Version : Remote TCP/IP serial communications
If you are talking about the private version of winex , no way , when sent the unlock key it reads the CPU on you PC and will only work with that PC ..
If you were talking about something else , never mind ..

I was actually looking at setting things up on my PII 350 using Win2k and connecting with remote desktop. It'll keep it all on one PC. You can control it over the net also. Its Microcrap but stable. Was that what you were somewhat referring to is something like that? You mention unix/Linux, I'm pretty sure winex will only run in windows, I think you can get software that will emu windows in xwindows but thats a lot of hassle. I stick with BASH text is the only way screw all those GUI's.

I have not bothered to see what this would cost but it would do the trick for you.

Here is the best remote contorl program I have found and it works for free. You can also use it on Unix, Linux and Apples.

I see what you guys are trying to do now, I was just setting up the remote desktop so I dont' have to get another monitor, etc setup. Too many already. Then I can keep things on a completely seperate pc. Keep things posted on your progress mrcclk.

The problem with the tcp_to_serial program is that it does not emulate a com port (i.e. com 6) on your computer. so Winexplorer can not talk to the com port on the remote computer. Winexplorer would have to be rewritten to communicate over TCP to use that solution.
