Here is my problem:
I have a 510 which I have jtag'd, vid modded and changed the drive to 80 gig installed an AR-C lock with no problems what so ever. It is a DFJD reision unit.
Now here is where my fun starts:
I have wrote a version 075 to the receiver and it powers up fine and shows the unit as a 508, I thought great I am done I will turn it off and let it update but that has been hell.
All I get is the "do not disturb message" and it will not update.
I have tryed writing a few different 075 software versions but still get the same result.
I thought I would try newer software versions since they will not need to update but then all I get is smartcard not inserted correctly message.
I read another post where they said to get it to update all you do is power it up remove the card and turn it off and it will update, but guess what is still stays at the "do not disturb screen.
I can't be the only one with this problem, some-one please show me the way.
Thanks

You do have the lock turned off? You can also restore from your backup. See if you can change location 7FFFFFAC to 0000 (or D500) in Tsop 2 with the lcok off to make sure it is working.

I have the lock off, I have no problem changing anything on the TSOP's with the lock off but if I turn it on then I can't write to them.
Seems to be something else to this story.

Some IRD's do not like to take updates if the difference is to great.
EXAMPLE ONLY
If you have a 227 it will go to 228 or 229 BUT if you have 220 it will sometimes start to update but refuse to complete the update.
Some will update to 224 then 226 then 229.
Some just sit there and do nothing.
IF you have or get a recent working flash it does not usually matter about the numbers. IT's just the auto update that can get stuck.
Try to find a new version in the files section and put that in. Not all IRD's are created the same, I had one that it took a long time to find a flash it would accept and I got that one from someone's working flash that they sent me.
Don't forget to do a switch check with every change or it mighht not work.
Good Luck, Jack

If you wrote virgin flash, to a DFJA(D) unit, that does not open in flashedit correctly under "moved ird info" it will not update. DFJA virgin is P080, and will not open correctly under "moved bootstrap" in flashedit, but will open correctly under "moved ird info".

The ones I have been trying to use when I first open in fashedit they come up as move bootsrap but when I select move IRD onfo they do open correctly. Then I change the DF"E"A to DFJA in flashedit and change my IRD & BK's and click correct checksum and write it back. As I say the receiver powers up fine get channel 101 with my yellow am able to do a checkswitch but then when I turn it off a little while later the do not distub thingy comes up and that is where it sits.
When I try to write a later flash all I get is smartcard not inserted correctly.
This thing is killing me.
Does anyone have a real DFJ"X" flash so I can try that , nothing else seems to be working for me but I will keep trying.
By the way I can also wrote a virgin DFEA to the unit and get the same thing it powers up fine but do not disturb again
Thanks for the responses and I will keep trying

by curret I mean what does dish say is current for the model, you can go to dish.com and see what the current version is.
What J-Tag gives you is always what you put in with the last flash no matter what it is.

A workaround for that do not message and see the version is;
unplug the IRD
disconnect the wire from the dish
plug the IRD in and look at the info.
It can't try to update without a signal from the dish.

I am writing different versions to the receiver to get it working. I can write any P version I want to the unit. When I use an older flash everything works great get video have all controls etc.. but when I turn it off to update all I get is the do not disturb message.
When I write a current version ie 223 or 222 or 199 all I get is smartcard not inserted correctly with a blue or yellow card.

223 is the current version for 510
If you put a entire flash, both bins if it has 2 + the eprom it should not try to update.
Yellow card ?, your IRD is not set for Nagra 2 is it.

Write a virgin flash, "moved ird info", then plug it in, do not put a card in it until it asks for one, after it asks to insert smart card, use a yellow one, either virgin or one married to the PRV, and as soon as you get any video after that, hit menu and do a switch check, then let it aquire satellite data, then as soon as previews come on, hit menu 6-1-5, set for "without my permission" and hit save then turn it off right there with the remote.
Best if you have a DFJA(D) virgin flash.

I only have a DFJA version that I created by changing the D to a J do you have a virgin DFJA to spare??
I will try again but I did get all the way to the last step but I didn't check or change the download without my permission but I will try that now.
Thanks for the patience with me

Did exactly what you said and once again it says 508 and did the without my permission and shut it off there and now it says the do not disturb message we'll see if it works.
How long does it usually take to upgrade from P080 to the latest version P223??

Unplug the IRD.
Disconnect the wire from the dish.
Plug it back in.
Set it to ask permission first.
Hook the dish back up.
Unless there is a major problem with the IRD it CAN NOT update with it set to ask first.
See what happens.
