Is A Dish 510 A Good Choice 4 Testing The Reason I'm Asking Is Because I'mthinking On Subscribing And The Plan That Dishbet Is Offering Comes With That Receiver.

Not the easiest one to test. There is no j-tag port or pads, so you have to solder in the jtag at various points around the board. Also, you have to do a vidmod for testing to allow rom10, rom3 or atmega cards to work. Finally, you have to downsize the hard drive to 80gb. All of the above fairly simple to do, if you have previous receiver modding experience.

Prolly the easiest to f**k up, based on the number of bad ones I have seen, definately not a beginners project.............if you can't afford to lose one, don't mess with it.

in my opinion, for ease, a 3100 reg 10 or 2700. Very basic, easy to jtag. Cheap, and a great way to learn to play.
