vuktum, why did you reflash the IRD when it has never been in the stream? Anyhow...

I don't think you fully flashed it. It may be corrupt. Did you also create and reflash a virgin EEprom as well?

A good start would be to tell us what IRD model you have.

cybersnak, IRD model?

Thanks for the reply, I had to do a reflash of the tsop's as something went wrong
when I disconnected the jtag as I could not get a green led when i plugged in the ird, this What I did:

Unit 3100-010 (Never in stream).
1) Bought unit.
2) Hook up buffered jtag.
3) took screen shot of Boxkeys, Tsop's, etc. and saved.
4) Unplug ird.
5) Disconnected Jtag.
6) Did some reading.
7) Decided to erase sa3 and restream to other provider.
8) rehook up jtag.
9) plug in ird, no green led, no nothing on jkeys except for device id number.
10) reflash tsop's everything went well , no errors.
11) hook up ird to tv, dish and plug in, green led comes on for about 4-5 seconds then goes out and does nothing.

Thanks for the Help

What happens when you use the remote to turn on the IRD?

I don't think the erase SA3 trick works on a virgin firmware.

In a new receiver it has what is called virgin firmware. This virgin firmware will not receive any programming at all. It is just enough to boot up the receiver and run you through the initial setups. The last step it performs is a stream update to the latest firmware.

Option 1

If you backed up the firmware flash the backup onto the receiver.

Then stream the receiver to receive the latest firmware.

Next do the SA 3 erase to convert it to the other provider.

Option 2

Find a matching firmware in the files section of DSSFTP.com. Try to get a matching version for the provider you want either DN or BEV. Don't worry if it's a older firmware you can always stream update it. If your going for BEV find one for a 3100 that matches your build sticker on the PCB inside the receiver. It only has to match the first three letters of the four on the sticker. The first three letter rule applies to DN firmware too.

Use flashedit to change the boxkeys and ird number. While you have flashedit open create a virgin EEPROM as well. Don't forget to check the fix CRC box before saving the TSOP bin after changing the boxkeys and IRD numbers to your numbers.

Flash the edited TSOP bin to your receivers TSOP.

Flash the virgin EEPROM to your receivers EEPROM.

If you couldn't find a firmware for the proper provider erase SA 3 after flashing the TSOP and stream update it.

Thanks for replying t160hq,
I just have to back up here a couple of steps, after re- flashing the tsop's at step 10) I did not erase sa3 as I read on an another post that you don't have do this with a virgin ird that's never been in the stream, am'I right in saying that?
After hooking the ird back up to the tv, sat dish, and plugging the ird in the light came on for a few seconds then went out again so I unplugged it and the same thing happened so I did that (plugging it in and unplugging) about 8 times and then when the led went out I tried to use the remote to turn it back on and walla, it worked except that I don't have the dish aligned as of yet, but i do get the signal strenght screen at Menu> 6,1,1 and the info page.
This unit is not subbed ( I have another one that is, to bev).this unit that I'm working on now will be hooked to dish and will be using Atmega
1) So what is the best way to handle this? stream it in bev, then do a secter
sa3 erase, then stream in dish, then watch tv?
2) Oh one more thing I haven't put the D-locks on yet, do I do this before or after streaming?
3) Will I get ECM'ed by tweaking the dish into place?
4) Does Atmega have to be in or out When streaming?

Thanks for your help and have anice evening.

1) If the IRD has virgin FW, there's no need to erase the SA address. Simply point to the sat provider and follow the on screen directions. In these cases, the card must be in slot. If the IRD has non virgin FW, then lock on to the desired sat, erase SA3 and steam w/no card in slot.

Obviously, if your dish is not locked onto the bird, it will not update.

2) Install lock after the IRD has the current FW and all is working well.

3) You may get ECM'd while tweaking, but chances are slim. If you do, then erase SA3 again and try again.

Hope this helps.

i had this same problem with 301.10

what i was told to do was
1. shut off the digital lock
2. take card out of ird
3. leave ird off
4 . my ird then turned on after 4-5 min and started to update itself
the update took abt 45 min

now it works fine ---hope this helps
