My 5900 PVR's hard drive just died
What do I need to do to replace a new harddrive
Can I just put a formatted drive in ?
or is there more to it then just that?

Take the Drive out. What Manuf. model is it?
If it is Maxtor, go to Maxtor site and download Max Blast utilities. You run that from your floppy dirve in dos, of course attached HD to computer. (Attach it to drive C cable and make sure it is set for master)
Max Blast then will load and find drive. It will run diagnostics on drive and you can zero out drive (Low level format) and should be good to go. If drive is bad call Manuf. and ask for repalcement. I think Maxtor has 3 years on their drives. If it is Seagate, then use their SW and follow their process to zero out/test a drive.
