alright, we got the smartcard in the mail, and they have started calling wondering why we haven't swapped our smartcard yet. what do we have to do? when we changed from legit to atmega, we had the full meal deal on the cards, and then once we were running the atmega, we went to minimum package. with the new card, will we still be able to use the old card at all? the new card when we put it in, will get the signal to use only the minimum package, but the old card has the full meal on it.

what is involved with the smartcard swap? how long is the phone call. what do they need to know?

As far as I know, get the new card in there and let it do it's thing with the provider. You can still use your old card but you have to place the new card in once every day or so otherwise it won't pick up your programming.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure I'm right.

Your new card needs tier date updates from the stream, Keep that in your subbed IRD, Get another ird and run another line from your dish to a 2'nd ird with your testing device and enjoy the extra channels while you can for now.

if i just put it in to do the swap, and then take it back out again for like a month, will it update at that point?
what i mean is, i only have one ird for now, can i just leave the new card out and use the good old atmega until it stops working? and then just put in the subbed card and it will update again?

First, how do they know you hven't done the swap? Probably because you are suppose to send the old card back. Well, you did the swap and sent the card per the isntructions. Not the first time something either was lost or stolen in the mail. :)

I don't think it is everyday that it expires, but every couple weeks. I just put my Rom 10X back in (It has been out for roughly 10-14 days) and it is still working. I did have it out for 6 weeks and it expired, but left it in for a week and it came back. So I know it has an expiry, just not how long. You can always call customer service and inform them that you have been out of town with everything unplugged for 6 weeks and your TV has stopped working.

do i have to turn the lock off to do this, and will my old subbed card still work?

I've left my card out for about 3 weeks and it took about 1-4 hours to get all the programming back. So I never really worry about it, The programming comes back everytime.
