Ok I got a Legacy 3900 ird with a rom 3 card working at my house on a Legacy Dish. I decided to get someone else in to testing for Christmas and purchased them a 3900 and rom 3. It works here at my house but when I went to set it up for them they had a dish pro series satellite dish. I tried a few different things to get it to work but I never got all the channels. I thought I would have to have a DP adapter to make it work but surprisingly I received some channels. In one room I would get the 110 odd and even on Check switch and the movie would come in but in the other I would get 119 on the Check switch but the channels never came in. I looked all around their house and never seen a single dishnetwork switch, only regular coax splitters. Their setup was installed by Charlie so i figured there would be a switch, but never seen one. Coming out of the DP dish is the 2 cables connected to a bar that looks like a switch but really acts as 2 straight thru BNC connectors, it has no writing on it. So that makes since why 110 is in one room and 119 is in the other. But I was trying to get both of them in one room so I ran home and got my Sw-21 legacy switch hoping it would work with a DP dish and Legacy ird. When hooked up to run to the living room only 110 odd came up on Check Switch. I have a few thoughts to what it could be but not for sure. After the Sw-21 switch there is a regular coax splitter that separates the living room and one bedroom. Is that possibly the problem having the splitter in line? or If I have the sw-21 on do I need the DP adapter? or Do I need to get a DP series switch and if so do I still need the DP adapter with my Legacy ird? I'm thinking the best way to go about it is just getting a new dish only Legacy series. Any suggestions? Thanks a lot for the help and Happy Holidays.

Is it possible to get two legacy Lnbs or a dual Legacy Lnb and just switch it out with the DP LNB keeping the dish mounted?

Or i guess it is a twin Legacy LNB, the one that has them mounted as 1, from what I read I guess those have a switch built into them and don't require one?

There is a special adapter you have to use with a "dish Pro" disk on a 3900.

Thats what I thought as stated in my post, but I actually received some channels. Would that be the only thing I needed? No switch because it should be built into the DP LNB correct? Or what about replacing the DP LNB with a Legacy LNB? would that work or are they different sizes? Thanks

No it's an adapter to use a super dish with legacy IRD's.
The Super dish has the switch built in and it is not compatable with "legacy " IRD's"
You can't take the LNB apart and change it.
You have to use the adapter to get all the channels.
Anything is possible but the easiest way is to get the adapter.

i thought a super dish was the eliptical one.. this one is still round like mine. i know u cant take the lnb apart and change it but where it is held onto the dish is the arm with a hex head bolt that can take the whole lnb off the dish.

You are thinking of the Quad dish with 4 LNB's
The Super Dish is round like the legacy it just has a switch built in instead of a SW 21 external.
