Not sure about blue button, but for DVR remote the sequence is:
1) turn on 508 at ird and hit sysinfo button....this will show address
2) hold down SAT function button until all function buttons flash
3) type in address 1 to 16
4) hit # key and wait until buttons stop flashing
5) hit record button

This should change your ird screen info to whatever address you selected in step 3. Sorry if this does not apply to your remote.

Skutterbutt showed you how to do that .....first you set up your remote control id with the box, then push a couple of buttons on the remote control to "sync" it with the box...

Did you even try that ?

This ain't got nothing to do with eprom...

When you hit sys info on the front of your ird, what number is under remote address? If it is not 1, then I don't think your remote will work. I assume its not a uhf remote.

Try this......using the buttons on the ird, hit menu, then use the arrow keys to scroll to system setup, then installation and then factory defaults. I'm guessing this will change your remote address back to 1. It may also remove some other changes you have made like favorites....I'm not sure.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

The 508's I have here are UHF remotes, Not infrared type.

I use a blue remote to test PVRs because it has system info on the remote, then I use the UHF remote to verify PVR functions. The blue button remote normally works on all 501,508 and 510s.
