Ok 510 gurus, I need help. I am going to run through my steps that I have been using trying to convert and clone my 510 to 5900. Please just tell me if you feel there is something else I should do. All methods will skip over the jtag install and vidmod install. I have full read write access.

Erase sa61 and sa60 and restream method:
All of this was done with hard drive removed including ide cable

Erased sa61(sa60) in jkeys in flash 2. Did nothing else in jkeys.
Unplugged receiver after shutting down jkeys, turned vidmod off.
Attached sat feed to sat in.
Attached tv out to tv
Plugged in receiver.

At this point I tried 3 different approaches:

1 after plugging in I just let it sit and wait. Nothing.

2 after plugging in I put card in for a few seconds, pulled in out and then let sit in the stream. Nothing

3 after plugging in I put card in and left it there. Let it sit in the stream and nothing again

Load virgin firmware and let it update (p080 bev defa moved irdinfo):

Erased flash 2 first then 1. Wrote virgin flash to flash 2 after I had changed the boxkeys and ird # to match my subbed ird. Wrote virgin eeprom.
Plugged machine in and tried to do a switch check but it would just default to the system info screen and wouldn’t allow me to do anything else without a card in.Put my subbed bev card in with the matching info and did check switch which eventually led me to the acquiring vital info screen at which it just sat there and did nothing.

I also just tried to watch tv with the subbed card got full guide but no sound or video ( I checked the boxkeys and ird # must have been 20 times they are correct)

Load already updated firmware with exact match build config:

So after erasing flash2 first and then flash1 I put the updated firmware on flash2 and then wrote virgin eeprom.

Using same procedure put ird into the stream asked for my card I put it in and it says card not inserted correctly.

I am starting this all over again with the hard drive installed but in the meantime if you guys have any ideas for me I would appreciate it.

Thanks for the help

Sounds like you are doing everything ok, just remember the harddrive will need to marry with the new numbers, and virgin firmware will be needed for that, along with a zeroed out harddrive.

If you stream w/o harddrive, it may update to P223, if it does, save the P223 flash, rewrite the virgin flash to marry harddrive, then flash back to P223.

You got to the aquiring vital info screen, let it sit, maybe even over night and see if it updates. Sometimes it just takes a while......

So what do I do now?

erase sa61 sits in stream blinks for 2 days and nothing
erase sa60 sits in stream blinks for 1 days and nothing

write virgin firmware p080 (bell) and does not update after a week.

Tried card in, card out, bell rom10, rom3, dish yellow card. upside down, hu card hell I even tried a credit card.

Machine works great with the dish firmware.

just looking for any ideas. maybe someone out there has had to do something really screwed up like having the box standing on its side our something to get it to work
