510 DVR VidMod?

I have acquired a couple 510’s and would really like to get them going. I have been reading everything I can find on them, but the info seems to be at newest 6 months old. I was wondering if anyone knew if there was any newer info on them particularly the ability to use them without reducing the hard drive from 120 gigs to 80 gigs (what a waste).

I have downloaded and thoroughly studied “510 jtag and vidmod” from the downloads section.

Go to the receivers forum, there are several threads concerning problems and solutions for modding the 510, for all intent and purpose (there reportedly is an exception, but I have not tried it yet so I cannot confirm or recommend it, and prolly should not even mention it), yes, the harddrive needs to go back to 80gig for blue card use, that is not nescessary for BEV, but dish needs it. Resizing gives 60 hours(approx) recording time and is easy to do.

I read that as long as you go below 100 mb on the HD (99mb) it will say it is a 508. I have not tried this, but the poster seemed adamant that he has tried every possible combination hd size.

I think that is correct, but I don't think you will get any more recording time tho, I believe even at 99gig, you will get the same recording time as 80 gig. I might be wrong on that, but that is my understanding.
