Need a vidmod or not on ird 301-013

I just bought an ird 301-013 with a build/cfg DAIA,software P174,boot strap 16AB,model 10E. Program a rom10 card and put it in the receiver. Receive only 2 preview channels. First I thought the software is outdated. D/L one P204 from the site with the same build/cfg DAIA. Try to install into the system. Erase the old one 5 times (full) and click the program. Insert the card back and still get 2 channels.Jtag and erase again 5 times then click program again. Then the warning window popped up and said the current flash is not completely blank do you want to continue "yes" and "no". I choose "yes" it took 4:30 minutes to complete then another warning window pops up. It said Error programming flash at offset
0X7fffff4C.In the thread it said on single location programming address X7FFFFFAC and click on read mine shows "0000". It means that I do not need a vidmod on this ird. But when I type at address X7fffff4c it shows "0300".Try type all to "0000" it said wrong data. I do not have any clue what to do next ? Any help or reply will be appreciated and thankful.

All 301-013's need the vid mod to fully reflash regardless of whether it needed the vid mod for blue cards, The last sector is locked and cannot be reflashed until the vid mod applies the 12 volts dc to the unlock of the tsop chip. 7FFFFF40 is the start of the locked sector

Where is it at now? You may be making more work than needed out of this, Does the ird still turn on and are you able to get the few preview channels?

He erased all but the last sector, if he has saved the flash first and then maybe he can write it back, all but last sector, but since that was not erased, it don't need written, it may work.
Sounds like 7FFFFFAC is already 0000, so if he can reflash it, the vid mod won't be needed to use a blue card.

Yep Kinda what I was thinking, DAI didn't need the mod, He only would need it if he has the tsop screwed up after the locked sector which I don't think is at this point.

Now I like to tell everyboby that my 301-013 works very fine without doing any Vidmod and I like to share this experience with everyone. I bought this ird from yardsale with a P174 software. Reprogram the P200 in then it said the current flash is not completely blank ( I tried to erase full 5 times) then decide to choose "yes". When it is done it said "error.......again". Insert the card in and it surprises me everything work like a charm.All channels included PPV showing up. This is part of testing and like to thank everyone who help me to finish this. Thanks again.

If you would have streamed it when you got it and let it update, the you would have gotten the same results.

7FFFFFAC is in the locked sector, if that was never changed, it was because it was already 0000.

Just go to show, many .013's do not need any VidMOd, in fact many are screwed up trying to do the Mod, and they don't even need it. Everyone with a new .013 single chip IRD should do a search to see which ones need a Mod.

1) Why F with a DAI build
2) Why not stream update a DAI build? Reflashing is totally idiotic.
3) Make things much more difficult than need be.
4) Do not follow the fix in this thread as it is a post I beleive leading members into screwing up there 301's.

It will accept the ROM 10 after it updates.......he already read 7FFFFFAC and it's 0000, so let it update and it will work with a blue card.

I read in a previous post on here that said if 301-13 has software build at 17xx and up, it must be vidmod. Builds 16xx and down does not need vidmod.

Is this written in stone?

I have 3 301-13 all at 17xx, so I put them aside until I get up the nerve to try the fine soldering at the spot.

The only real way to see is by checking 7FFFFFAC, generally speaking the above is correct, but to be 100% you need to read 7FFFFFAC, since you need to jtag it anyway to get boxkeys, then check that, if it is 0000, cool, no mod needed, UNLESS you ever need to completely rewrite the flash, then it WILL be needed.

I read somewhere that if you try to use a blue card on ones that needs the Mod, you will get an error message about the wrong card inserted or ????. Sorry I forgot the exact message.

The famous "card not compatible" message...............NOT the " card not valid" message tho, that just means wrong receiver number on the card.
