Lo all,
I just received a virgin 510 (in the plastic). I have read, read and re-read prior to doing anything. Needless to say, I must have missed something along the way. Let me tell you where I'm at and what I did. 1st thing I did was to install a j-tag and a vidmod. (The ird has 2-GT chips). I read and saved the Tsops (U6 & U7) and the eeprom @ P079. Then I streamed it (with it's original yellow cam) BEFORE I changed the LBA of the h/d. It took the update fine (to P233 I think). Well I found out that was incorrect so I erased both flashes (completely) using the vidmod and re-wrote original P079 (with a fixed CRC) to Flash 2 (U7) only. I also changed the LBA of the h/d prior to streaming the 2nd time. I hooked it up (yellow cam again) and immediately got a "serious error with your hard drive......" message. I ignored that and clicked "ok", but the ird just seems to hang on the aquiring signal phase of the "DO NOT UNPLUG OR DISTURB......" screen. Should I have used the "fixed CRC" image I made ? Also Please Note, The OJ1 was NOT grounded and the VID MOD was turned off. Another Note: I used J-Keys with updated def files and when I connect the j-tag, I simply scroll down to 510-5900 and I get a good info dump.
Any thoughts, suggestions or advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You

You will need to build a virgin eeprom to write back to the receiver. Use flashedit to build a virgin eeprom, then pull the drive and use the software for the drive Make and zero out the drive , reinstall and restream and you should be good to go. Check around , there is some guides to help with this.
