I need some help to install a 33" dish with a FTA LNB. Is the LNB able to get Dish signals? Can I use that LNB with a 3900 receiver ? I do not seem to inderstan how to use the signal meter with the FTA ? My sattelite detector is beeping but the quality bar is set to 0 %.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi! if you have a standard KU LNBF try setting your LNB type to standard then set LNB frequency to 10750
22khz set to off
LNB power set to on if it`s on your menu

but if you have a universal KU LNBF set to universal 1 it will set frequency itself
22khz set to off
LNB power set to ON

you can`t use KU LNBF with 3900 model if you cahanged LNB to DTV/BEV/dish type LNB you could.

With KU LNBF you will also need to set polarity counter clockwise if your on the east coast and clockwise on the west coast.
The polarity will be different from each bird your trying to get.

With FTA recievers you can still pick up signal even if your not
aimed right because you could pick up a different satellite than you are trying for.

this is how I use my signal meter first I get my compass point aim my dish as close as I can then use my signal meter first thing I do is turn it right up until I get a good tone then turn it down to 3 or 4 then move my dish left/right until I get best tone.
Then I turn it down again then adjust elavation until I get best tone.
then after I get best signal there then adjust my polarity for my LNBF until it`s best quality signal.
good luck...

I read, when using a Universal KU LNBF that you must Set your LNB to Standard
change the Freq to 10600 and 22khz set to ON???

On a pansat 2500, how do you turn the LNB power on? I don't see that option?

Also, how do you adjust the polarity for best quality? do you actually spin the
LNBF around? I don't understand what you mean set the polarity counter clockwise?
where is this adjustment??

Thanks,
Bongo

Hi! I tried setting it to standard and putting in 10600 and setting it to universal 1 no real difference so I just left it on universal 1.

To adjust the polarity on your LNBF holder you will see lines on it the middle is 0 then it goes to 10 - 30 -60 depends on which sat your aiming at and which coast your on.
I`m on west coast so mine is clockwise and east coast is counter clockwise.
I check mine out at sadoun .
good luck..

Thanks Xwolfs7 for the quick reply...
Quick Question... What happens if the polarity is not aimed correctly?
I seem to be able to hit most sat with my HH motor 33 inch dish.
Is it just to boost the signal and quality for H and V transponders??
I just have mine up and down, I don't remember seeing any markings
on the LNBF holder??

Thanks again,
Bongo..

Hi! It should be ok as is if your using an HH motor you just have to set polarity if you are using a stationary dish.
I leave mine set on zero .lots to choose from with a motor hey..good luck..

Hey Wolfs...
Thanks again for writing back.
On my Pansat 2500 I have a Universal
LNBF and I tried to switch the LNB type
to Universal 1 but I couldn't receive any
signals? it works great on standard
w/ freq @ 10600 / 22khz ON.
any ideas why what is wrong?
Thanks
