dtv to 500

HI,
I love this forum!
I curently have a Lifetime Ultra connected to my old Dave dish which has 1 dual lnb. I wanted to make it like a dish 500 by adding a y yoke plus either a 2nd lnb or a dp500 lnb. is this all I have to do? Or is the extender arm a differenly lenth on the dish 500 dish?

bigguy, yes you can add another lnb to your dish. You can buy a fitting or I have heard of people actually duct taping or strapping a lnb beside the lnb that is mounted on the dish. Remember that the signal is reflected off the dish, so if you're trying to get a sat that is west of the sat you're already pointed at, you will have to place the new lnb to the east of the existing lnb.

That's great! I'm picking up 119 right now and just want to be able to get the 110 sat without adding another dish or changing out this one. I was just worried the there were differences between the standard dish and 500 type dish. Do you know if the quality is comprimised doing it this way?

I am sure that the quality of signal is lower, since the added lnb is not exactly at the focal point of the dish, but as I understand, this is being done and with satisfactory results. I think the signals transmitted by B*V and Charlie are quite strong...

by adding a other lnb next to 1 on there now is called a superdish mod i did it and works the added lnb to dish is a little weaker but for price of 2 hose clamps and fewpeices of foam ,can,t beat that price:)

ps use a bev rec or dn rec to find 110 bird lot easy to find that way:) :)
