can i use a statchoice dish on a fta receiver?

I dont believe so, I believe the angle of the lnb to the dish is wrong. I believe bev/ dave/ and charlie all use the same, and are interchangeable but starchoice is not.

you can use the starchoice dish (with modifications) but not the starchoice lnb

Yes, you can use that dish for FTA. Especially if you have the old 30' dish. I have read of people with the newer oval dish using for FTA also.
The LNB on the Starchoice is a linear type. You won't be able to use on 110, 119, 91 or 82, but you can use on T5, 121, and almost all the other sats out there.
