I have had the same IP address try to access my firewall 30-40 in the last 24 hrs.
The search I did, that is very limited due to not really knowing what I am doing, only comes up with the internet supplier. Is there a good search site I can use or how can I find out who this is and send him a email or at least let him Know I see what he is trying to do.

could it possibly be a music download share site?
some one trying to download a song or what ever that you may have on your pc?
I don't know,just a guess
Is that possible?
cold it be your ISP scanning its scope?
use your firewall and backtrace it with the whois or arin database.
might be a cookie tracker.
toss your cookies or even
use your firewall to block that ip

First thing I would do would be to check and see what port they are trying to open. It could just simply be a P2P software trying to reconnect after you have stopped sharing. It takes a while for a lot of them to realize you have disconnected.

All those search things tell you is the IP and 'maybe' the last junction city.
A search on my # says Swbell Houston. I am any where within a 300 mile RADIUS of Houston That's 900 Square Miles, big place to search door to door (And 20 million doors to knock on)
Even the cops have to get the IP to tell them WHO and WHERE you are.
(Takes a warrant in most cases)
this is quite good: http://visualroute.visualware.com/
it gives you their physical location, their isp, and the contact info for the isp.

well lets see what it says
what sucks now with visual ware is that to use the tool you know have to waste time signing up everytime. However, there some sites that licensed this tool, so it's possible to still use this tool without signing up. (let us know if you do find such a site)

Same deal as the rest.\
IT gets to Houston and it gets lost.
Well I guess I won't have to worry about charlie finding me.
Unless he has a better finder.
Still within 400 0r 500 square miles and 14 million people is not bad.

I was just testing the various search and tracking programs.
They are not very reliable.
A lot of it is because of the way companies bounce you around from place to place. number to number.
AOL does it so much some poeple cannot even stay logged into some boards, every post is from a different IP #, which some boards (security programs) do not like.
One admin friend said he had a good one and tried me, It came back I was in New York, he swore that was where I was, 1500 miles off.
The one I tested above I did a "do yours" they were in Virginia it ?followed? my signal through 9 states and finally lost the signal in Houston. Close only 100 ,iles away with 25 million possible loactions, hehehe

So which program is the best to stay invisible, (bounce my Ip address around)
Firefox web browser with the switch proxy add on is about as good as it gets for free I think. That works better than the dogshit Staganos anonymizer package that isn't free. It's really easy to set up too. There are a lot of good pay services out there too that might work even better for you too. You can check out anonymizer.com. Supposedly they have a pretty good service.

Sj, your math sucks.....LOL....
a 300 mile radius is more like 282743 square miles. ( area = R x R x pi)

You are talking round and I was thinking square L (300) x W (300) = area 900 (kiss)
I keep my pi under my ice cream. yum yum
Is that like comparing Apples and Oranges ?
