I recently received the dreaded letter two weeks ago. I did not respond and and last week the second came. I still have not responded. I have a few questions that maybe someone can help me with. The first is will they actually try to prosecute me? It seems they could not go after everyone, I just purchased two loaders. Is it true that they do need to prove that I used the loaders? I have read a lot of forums on this and most people say to ignore this but they say they can claim 10,000 for each loader plus legal fees.

Did the letters arrive Certified mail? If not, you never received them. Who's records did they get ahold of to 'verify' that you made a purchase? Which provider sent the letter? (DTV, DishNet, or Bell) Did you pay with a money order or a trackable method? If I were you I'd spend an hour or two reading through the legal section to get a better feel for what your next step should be.

They came regular mail. I paid by credit card(not the smartest thing). It is from DTV. I was wondering if anyone had been taken to court for just buying a loader?

Good site for DTV legal information....

http://www.directvdefense.org/index.shtml

Find a good attorney in your state that's had experience in this area, and set up a preliminary conference with him/her. If you're going to participate in a rock fight, it's always smart to bring rocks. ;)

Good luck, by the way.... :)

Regular mail wouldn't excite me, They are fishing for a admission of guilt is all. Certified mail is different.

That's what I think too, but if you have the time and the money, it doesn't hurt to consult an attorney that specializes in these matters. If it didn't come certified mail, then they are most likely just fishing, so don't go for the bait. Do not reply to these things directly, not ever.

They sent me 3 letters last year and I never responded to any of them. Last letter they sent me I wrote "Return to sender- Wrong address" and sent it back. Never heard anything else. If they really had any proof of your wrong doing they wouldnt even bother sending you threatening letters. They would just take your ass to court. Unless you get served with court papers I would just ignore it. And if you get any certified letters from them dont sign for them.

I heard that if they don't serve you with a subpeona within 2 years of evidence discovery (when they busted the place), then they can't sue you at all.

Actually in some cases the SOL begins after they analize the records and servers, not when the raid occurs. There is some awesome info on www.freedomfight.ca, concerning this and almost all aspects of various cases/questions etc.

Rise ran this site for quite a while and GSG2 from the old den is a regular along with TTRK,Megados etc and lots of other names you will remember. I t has all the help you will need concerning DTV and Dish.
