"smart card is not valid for this receiver" :(

I have a dish 510 reg id 011 that I'm trying to covert to a 5900.

1. I installed a jtag, that works fine.
2. I get my boxkeys and my ird number.
3. Erase S60 in flash 2
4. I'm using a rom11

I waited for a while a long time an the only thing I get on the screen is "smart card is not valid for this receiver"

What could be going wrong?

Well I checked 3 times, but it won't hurt to try again. Can you point me in the direction for the proper vid mod for this reciever. I know there is two of them, but I want the them one that won't fry my reciever.


Is there away I can edit my boxkeys and ird number on the reciever?

That card is programable right?

If not you will need one that is.

The reciever sounds fine to me you just need to let it update.

You don't need to edit the numbers in your IRD, you need to edit the numbers on your card.

yeah skinerd, It was actually "CARD NOT COMPATIBLE"

I'm check and I don't think the firmware download properly, I didn't have the Harddrive plugged in.

What does "Card Not compatible" mean?

it was a 510 to start with, it will need the vid mod, use the four wire method, skinerd stated once that he seen the 3 wire method fry some receivers. Glad to have the old forums back but I was kinda digging the new look!

Jtag it, see if 7FFFFFAC in flash 2 is 0000, if not, it will need modded to make it 0000.

Well I reflashed my orginal dish firmware which is P80.

I did all the bev updates and the firware is at E545 now.

I still get error 20 "This smartcart currently inserted is not valid for this receiver"

I read the address 7FFFFFAC and it returns data D500.

on the System info Screen it has:

a) status: Warning! Select "Details" b) 5 c)phone icon

d) 5900 software: e545 e) R00 XXXX 1785, S04 XXXX 9807 f) blank

g) satellite with a good signal

h)Device: UNKOWN

i) Remote Address: 1

I'm getting the same problem but on three different receivers. When you say that a hex digit was wrong, did you enter it wrong or did you enter too many numbers?

Do you include the ROO in front and the -XX numbers at the end?

I've had the same message on three different receivers now. I'm really scratching my head.

R0056781234-78 would be converted by dropping the R00 and the -78, yielding 56781234, convert that to hex and get 36269B2, which is only 7 digits, so add a leading 0, and get 03 62 69 B2.

"smartcart currently inserted is not valid for this receiver" has only one cause....the receiver number on the card don't match the receiver number in the flash.
