Dishnet going down???

I heard somewhere that as of sept 2005 our fixes will be useless because Dishnet will be switching to a new system or something. Niagara2 or something like that. is this old news or BS?

It still only works on the Niagra 1 encryption stream. I believe the name is a bit misleading but they do not claim it hacks Niagra 2 - it's just the 2nd edition of the Magic Card.

I had heard that Bev was supposed to be making the switch in February. Anyone hear if they are on track or if that date has been pushed back? It's almost Feb now.

Ever since the black box there have always been options for free tv. When the black boxes quit workin , I went to DAVE. DAVE shut down so I went to Dish. A door rarely shuts without a window opening. When Nag1 gets shut down I can guarantee that something else will pop up. It may not be a hack in the traditional sense, but you can defintly expect something new to come out.

My advice here is that don't expect a date to be exact ... there's no guarantees in this hobby, Charlie can swap to nagra2 sooner that september, or if we're lucky, later than that. So watch your PPVs and your porn and soon your investment would have been paid off...

You're right about this hobby having no guarantees, the only thing certain is uncertainty. I'm gonna take the next 6 months (til N2) and really start filling Hard drives and burning DVD's.
Many people think with N2 and P4 in full swing, there will be no satellite left for us to take. But the tv hacking community is too big to be brought down by new cards. Yes, it will be humbling to have no more dish come September, but this will only strengthen our resolve and motivate the powers that be to come up with a hack. There's too much money at stake for nothing to happen.

you dont have to go that far, your receiver should already be telling you you need a new card. Try to watch channel 492... or maybe you already have a nagra2 card in your receiver LOL

It will be a race whenever Dish goes down. When noone is watching TV, all of the hi-tech coders will be scramblin' to come up with something for the P4 or N2 cards. I'm just glad there are people put there that are smart enough to be helpin' us out by keepin' it free.

IF any hack comes out,it sure as hell won't be free. It's going to be very costly to come up with either a P4 or N2 hack and the guys that are working on it only do it for the money. Can't blame them either. It's going to be a risk to put a new hack oout.

Totally agree with you SJ ... Threads like this will hardly be unavoidable.

To me, this is all like Dejavu ... exactly a year ago, many of us were in the same situation with Dave testing.

The same questions arised, and people gave the same answers. Some people claim that a h@ck is already available, and some that it will be impossible to break..

Then a few months after all Charlie channels are gone, somebody will come out claiming that they know a cousin's friend of a friend who has a friend that is watching TV with N2 cr@cked.

My advise to you all who are worried about this, is: Go back to watch TV while you can and stop worrying about it. When the time comes, we'll either have a way out, or we'll be back to renting porn movies or something. Either way it's not up to us, but to those REALLY smart people who are already testing N2, who not only see it as a challenge of the mind, or the ego ... but also as a good freaking way to make some money while at it. :) b... those are the real testers that keep this hobby alive.

The new scam / fake N2 hack forum is filling up already.
And we may have to make another one for this type of thing too.
To keep it out of the way of people who need help if nothing else.

But of course, the person who does find a N2 solution can make a lot of money if they are smart about it.
Were it not for the money a lot or most of people with the necessary talent would not waste their time, there are only a few altruists who write code and design hacking equipment and then give it away.
