Got a Rom 3, rev 372 with "FF" at location E011. Is there anything you can do to use this card or is it OK?? Getting a black screen

Sounds like a up to date revision number, thats what mine is at curently.

Does it clean ok with one step clean.

A little info gleaned from sources here and there.

Just open up the bin or read the card in nagraedit. Click on Data Editor tab. On the left click on Code Space.

Then look in the OTP Tag Area box on the right. What your looking for is anything other than 00 in the 16 bytes listed. It's usually in the second byte in the box and usually FF. That is a marked cam.

That applies to a Rom3. I have never seen a marked Rom 10 so I can't speak to that.

As to drawbacks have a couple of these marked ones myself. Other than putting a patch for the mark on a poorly written blocker. Or using a well written blocker that has it already. None.

Ok ... For one a rom 3 will Mark at E011 just by pulling the card out of the IRD's and Charlie knows this thats why its not a target......
What are targets not for charlie on rom2/3 cards is E007 = FF, E010, E012 and E013 = anything thats not 00's

Now as for rom10 and rom11 cards look at C023 is its marked there then you have a marked rom10 or rom11 card...

Everything I have said above is a target to charlie now and if you put the cards in the stream theres a 90% chance it will be looped.......

The FF@E011 means that this card has been unlocked at one point in time but is safe to add an unmarked blocker onto it as the 23 @E007 shows this card is safe(if this was FF then it would be marked)

So does the card clean ok in Nagra ? If it does you should be able to program and put a blocker on.

Hey Cimba, before I subscribed to the blocker my rom 3 revision was in the 360's and open and clean and when I put tiers on it it raised the revision number to the 380's and after trying it with the blocker and then taking off the blocker and cleaning it it is at 372 revision and its still open.

I just took it that it updated my bad.

Putting the blocker on spoofs it to rev 383, once taken off it usually reverts to the previous rev. As long as you can read, clean, and apply & remove blocker your ok. My 372 goes to 383 while the blocker is on, goes back to 372 when removed and cleaned.

My card shows the same as your example. "FF" at E011 and i show a "22" where you have the "23". The card cleans just fine and using GCSB it goes to rev. 383. I just got a black screen the first time I tried to load it. Do I need a blocker that takes care of this "FF" ? What should I use?

That FF apparently is ok with any blocker. The card was not mine, just an example I got from the forums, don't know about the 22, 23 thing, have not looked at it. From what I can read as long it is a number there not FF it's ok.
Personally I use Mili's Blocker and tiers, much more convenient for me.

Tried it again and still get black screen. Changed card number to one that works and still get black screen. All I can get is the preview channels. Keys are up to date. Card cleans ok and goes to 383 when using GCSB. Any ideas ????

Don't know anything about GCSB, does it have tiers in it ? When you go to guide are the channels in red or normal colours ? Did you j-tag the IRD and get the proper IRD #(R00xxxxxxxxxx) and boxkeys ?

I made sure all the public and decrypt keys were ok. Even tried without a blocker. I got the error 005 (keys update) and let it sit for awhile to update. All keys look ok. I can go to 102 then change to 205 and get the channel for awhile (15-20 seconds) then the channel freezes. All the other data is correct. This one is eating my lunch!! It's at rev 372 after a clean. Any more ideas?

Yes. I have another ROM3 that works fine using same info. I will go check everything again. I must be missing something. It's a 301.013.

Check to be sure you are entering data with no "oh's" and all caps. I've done it before, checked a dozen times thinking & seeing what I thought was there but had entered an O not a 0(zero). But I can't see what else it can be if you are using the same data and tiers etc. and the other 3 works good in that 013 IRD.

Thanks ! Are you using the same ird for the rom3 that is working? On the 301.013 is the software up to date,don't have the #s right in front of,maybe someone else has. Do you heve the image saved for the rom3 that works,if not make one and save it. If the software is up to date and you can clean the card you should be able to put the image you saved on that card and work ok.

I finally got the card up. It was another parity key problem. Here is what fixed it:

add this right above the blackout string in the ep3 patch. It is a parity key problem and this will solve it.

If you get a Black screen check your BOX KEYS

quadruple check them

i had this problem and i found out i had an E instead of the C in needed in my box key

now it works perfectly
