AAGHHH, Guys I need help.

Is there a way to run my 501 ird without the hd?

I got bold and tried to dump my saved programs to my comp with my new usb to ide connector that just arrived. I was trying my best to do everything right and something went wrong, of course. basically after trying to use the usb with supplied power supply unit it would not be reconized or even spin up for my comp, so I hooked it back up to the ird and it just click click clicked.... so I tried the comp again without the usb and the Hd started freakin smoking! One of the chips on the drive started to melt, so it's definately fried. I hope theres a way to run the 501 without hd untill I can get a new HD.

P.S. The message I get is Error 311 a serious prob has been detected w/ Hd error code :0439 < I push ok then it gets stuck on acquiring satellite, downloading vital info.

Thanks for any help guys! I will continue searching and hope you can help me soon.

Just turn the power off and turn power back on using the remote, after you get the hd error. It should continue to acquire signal.

Ok thanks for the help. I had flashed the receiver with its original firmware and it just sat there at warning 61 for days and would not update with 110 and 119 giving good sat signal so I dont know what the deal was. I found an updated flash in the download section and it is working now.

Actually the flash is in the dl section named "PVR501-22AB-DCEA 220 softlocable" And I have not replaced the Hard Drive yet, I just ordered one and should be putting it in next week. But I sure hope when I put the new drive in, that it will stream up to the new firmware,,, I have no idea why the ird would not stream up just because it has no HD, maybe thats the way it is? I never had a problem before this, with it not updating.

Best of luck to you Birdie
