View Full Version : Help with 3700 & LNB+Switch setup...
I have read the how to on dishes and lnbs.
I have a 3700 on a dish with an SW21 switch. I can only get 119W. When I run a 'check switch' I get 'switch unknown', and I can't get 110W locked in.
I have used this same dish and SW21 with my 301.013 with no problems, so I know it works.
I have even turned the receiver off to see if it would upgrade the software. (not sure if that was the problem, not sure what the current software is for a 3700)
Assuming the lnb could be my problem, what lnbs/switches will work for a 3700?
I have even tried this receiver on my Legacy 500 Quad, which I thought worked for all receivers with no luck.
Could there be something wrong with my receiver?
Thanks for advice,

it sounds like it may be a receiver issue xp, but before you rule it out, check your connections at the sattelite and the dish, you want the center core of the cable end to extend beyond the casing of the cable a little bit, this is especially important at a sw-21 switch, we had a swith installed, worked fine for a few days then one day, no switch detected, couldn't pick up 110, went and bought a new switch, same problem, checked the jumpers coming from the switch to lnb's and they were fine but the center core of the cable was even or just a hair shorter than the ouside screw on casing, we extended it about 1/16 of a inch past the casing and everything worked great again. Just a thought,

Thanks for your help guys.
The deal is it's my friends receiver and I was letting him borrow my 301.013, so I knew the dish and sw21 switch worked.
Anyway I setup the 3700 for him on the same dish and that's when we had the problem.
So far I have learned that the software has not been updated, as this receiver (3700) had been sitting for quite awhile.
We did a force upgrade routine and after the receiver powered back up it was still at the old software, but the receiver finally was able to detect the sw21 switch.
So tonight when my friend turns in for the evening, he is going to power the receiver off and we feel like it will have upgraded to the latest software by morning.
Thanks for your help and I will keep you posted,
