I need to know what this chip does, found in DP510

I was installing my lock in my receiver, next to the WE in and out connections there is a 8 legged chip with the number 330 on it, (look at pic) I broke the first leg off of it where you would cut the trace to, Will it still work since the trace got cut anyway? I got a little dab of solder in between the two legs and while trying to get rid of the short I inadvertantly broke the damn leg. please advise if you can help, I have a electonics friend who is out of town, he told me to set it aside and wait for him to return if I didn't feel comfortable trying to fix it. I would at least like to let him know what he is dealing with when he gets back in case we need to try to get another one to put in there. I can't seem to upload the picture, it is right next to the we in connection point on a 510 and it is the leg you cut the trace to. by the way Shit shit shit, damn it.

I have a scrap 510 I can cut that part out and mail it to you if you want it. Your good to help people. I am looking for a I think its marked on the pc board U5002 that switching transistor that has the heat sink on it near that huge capacitor on a 2700 in the power supply area. If you have one we could exchange addresses if you don't I will still be glad to mail you the part.

That part should be on one of them its on most power supplies. It will be slightly to the right of that huge capacitor. It has 5 legs and a slide on clip thats a heat transfer thingy. Its easy to find.

Myself! since it appears I broke the leg that had the trace cut to it (I think in this is where my luck lies) that leg was unnecessary, therefore I got away with it, I have not fully tested all of the receivers functions but it boots up and I have tv. testing as we speak. Hey joe, lets find out if you can use a part out of one of those receivers I have, I would be glad to mail it to you just for your offer of giving me my part.
