Error message 349? Thats the vid mod needed to make a non Nagra 2 card work.
If you already did the vid mod and are still getting that message, You'll need to use the yellow card to stream update it, After any card will work.

You will need to see if it needs Vid mod.
Then you need to change address 7FFFFFAC from D500 to 0000.
www.bellexpress.vu/vidmod.html for vidmod pics.

Have you done the vid mod?

If you have then carefully ask if not sure, But deleting the entire flash and reloading something like a DAHA build version will solve your problem also. If you use a public tsop file make sure to edit it first in flashedit. If you are not sure about all this please ask questions first so we can help you get it right and not make a doorstop :)

It would be easier to know what build and firmware it is at, Hook it to your tv and press sys info on your remote, You should see a DA__ 4 letter build and firmware rev like P058 for example.

Hey Birdie,

I just ran into the same issue. Although doing the vid mod is the best way to go you said above that re flashing the bios with a DAHA build would cure it also. I have a saved tsop file from a previous DP103-013 unit that didnt have this problem but it is a DAJA. Will this one work? If so, can you direct me to a string or page that tells me a little more about it?

TIA,

DAJA is a dual tsop bin, consists of flash 1 and 2.......DAHA is a single tsop.

I reflash all dual tsop DAJA receivers with DACA files, seem to work much better.

All of the -013 single tsop receivers I do get a virgin DAHA at P055 and a virgin DAHD eeprom file, no matter what the original build was, then they stream up tthe current revision rapidly, never failed.

To completely reflash any 301-013 the vid mod is nescessary.

Skinerd,

Thanks for the info. This unit is for a friend so I will see if he wants to go with the vid mod. I really wasnt wanting to take a chance of creating a door stop so I think I will give him the HowTo info from above and let him give it a go :-)

Is there a virgin DAHA and DAHD somewhere online I could get?

Thanks,

Public files here have them, Echostar TSOP files. Grab the program "Flashedit" also, Open the DAHA in flashedit first and change the ird and boxkeys back to yours. The uploaded files have them changed to public dump versions which will usually not work until edited.

I think ERROR is my middle name LOL,

Birdie or Skiners can you offer me some direction?

I was reluctant but did the Vid Mod. Got everything soldered in place (sort of like trying to work with gnat pubes) but all seemed to work out well. Following the HowTo at www.bellexpress.vu/vidmod.html I still get the DCU Peek Error. I tried to read first without the jumper shown at the end of the HowTo but got Peek Error on the first read. I installed the suggested jumper and tried again. Same thing with it. Opened everything up and checked all joints, all looked good. Tried one more time and it read it! (no cover installed) Put the cover back on, tried again and back to error :-( One thing I noticed in the install process that may be a factor. First voltage reading from ground to c44 was 25 (good) the second reading across the resistor to c44 was 13.5 (possibly too much?) What should I try next? I have tried a bunch of times to read but only on that one instance did it see it and I have tried with the switch in both positions. One thing different from the HowTo on my unit is that I have cut an access hole to get to the pads.

Any advice you may have will be greatly appriciated !

Thanks again,

I beleive in the vid mod guide at bellexpress it tells you to ground pad one for the jumper, this isn't the best way to do it, on the board there is a R79 resistor pad that you need to ground to, 13,5 is good, you can figure on 12-13.5 for that reading, I have a 301 that has about that at C 44 when hooked to the resistor. it works, I am interested in knowing what pad you jumped, I will take a look for the R79 how to and post it for you if you need it. You hook that up to ground, (I solder a piece of solid wire to r79 and then use a set of jumpers to connect to that and the case of the ird) but you can do it however you want as long as it gets grounded.

Crazy1,

Thanks for the response. If you look at the last page of the vid mod guide, it shows adding a jumper between the first 2 pads of the JTAG pads. This was the first I saw this also. I will see what I can find on the R79 also but please go ahead and post if you find something.

Thanks,

n2gadgets

(edited) Gunthers Guide shows the R79 resistor connectoin well

and for the real kicker !!!! Was going to use the R79 ground but decided to try one more time with the previous jumper removed just for kicks and now its reading fine.....

Go figure LOL

Here is the picture of them grounding R79, if you look close you can see a pin soldered right on the left side of the crystal (the tall silver shiny thing) zoom in on it and you can see exactly where to solder too. Just take that to ground, a good ground could be a case screw, on of the screws that hold the board in the receiver, the receiver case, or the pads below the pads you hooked the jtag too if you hooded up on the bottom of the receveir, hook that jumper up, plug in the receiver and then start jkeys, the green light won't come on the receiver because the receiver isn't booting all the way up, it is kinda like booting into dos mode on your computer instead of letting it boot all the way into windows.

EDIT, it won't let me upload yet, I thought maybe they had that fixed, if you pm me your email addy I will email you the picture if you can't get it anywhere else,

or better yet here is the link to gunthers guide right here at the sight, download the file and goto r79 files and look at the picture,

First off, thanks to all of you that have been such a great help :)

Most of what I have done is listed above but to save the re-read let me recap the whole thing.

1. Did a functional Vid-Mod using www.bellexpress.vu/vidmod.html
2. Grounded via R79 on Gunthers verses above HowTo
3. Downloaded 301.013-16AB-DAHA-10E-P055.bin and flashedit.
4. Changed IRD and Box Keys in Flash Edit.
5. After conciderable trouble (DCU Peek Errors [my ground lead sucks!]) wrote the above bin to IRD with jkeys.
6. Tried to stream, I get 061 for hours (not minutes) It never updates. I have no lock on this IRD, just the Vid-Mod.
7. Wrote a DAHA file I had from another IRD which was at P182, same thing, still trying to update now .....

Square frizbee's have sharp edges and dont fly well so I think I will try a little bit more......

Can any of you wizards give me a reason I cant get this thing to 1. complete the download or 2. get sattelite signal in the process of the 061 (I did do a Check Switch and I get great signal on both satelites)

Again,

Any help is greatly appriciated........

n2gadgets,

The receiver must be turned off to update, it will not update powered on....during the update it will power itself on, then usually shuts down when complete.
But if you never get the previews with a virgin flash, then it may not update at all.

I have tried to send the virgin flash as requested to a few guys with hotmail addresses, it won't go thru, nor will hotmail allow me to send, so I send with yahoo, hotmail says it contains a virus, IT DON'T, and won't let me send or you receive.
I will post in the files section, but it will have to wait until approved by mili before it's available.

skinerd,

got your file loaded but it seems to be doing the same as all the others I have tried. I did a full erase and then programmed with the 4 meg file you sent. I still dont know what use the 8k DAHDeeprom file has since it wont open with flasedit or write with jkeys?? I have my numbers changed and finally after changing my JTAG batteries from rechargeables get good read and writes without DCU Peek errors.
You said above that the receiver needs to be off to get the updates needed. When I plug it in, the unit comes on for about 4 seconds then goes back off without any display on the screen. After a couple of seconds it comes back on and goes to installation (check switch). I have great signals on both sattelites but still run the check switch. I back out of there and it goes into "finding sattelite". After this it rolls into the "Warning 061" download and finding satellite where it stays forever cycling back and forth between the two. Is there something I should be doing different or should I be doing something with the DAHDeeprom file? or as you said earlier, it just may not take the update.

Thanks,

n2gadgets

Finally Success, no more 061 !!!!!!

After going through all the trouble and being a pain to all that have helped, I finally got this unit working. I tried all the bin updates or rather stepping back to older revisions with no success. I decided that i would go back to sqare 1 and start there since in the beginning I was having a bit of trouble with my JTAG. I reloaded the first save off the unit and edited the 7FFFFFAC address to 0000. When I put it in the stream it did what it was suppose to. Power up for 2-3 seconds the powered off. Previously it was powering back on and going into Check Switch. I let the unit set a few minutes and without a power light went into 061 update. Unit then turned off after 1 attempt to update. I then powered it back on and things went normally into downloading guide!

I guess for some reason this unit does not want to work with previous revisions who knows???

This was a great learning experience but I am about hairless now!

Thanks to all that were a great help.....
