I would start over with it, load a virgin tsop and eeprom, zero hard drive and remarry it.

Have you tried the system info button on the receiver? Try leaving it on for 10- 15 minutes with the card in. Pull the card. If you get the''Please insert smart card'' message, it should go to the system info screen. What I'm getting at is if you can bring up the system info screen to check the SW version, FW version and Loc. ID.

P223 is the latest, so it's not trying to take an update. Skinerd can be a lot more help to you than I can. Both Skinerd and JT got me through my first No ZKT mod way back in the good ol' days.

Better to use the OJ1 connection, just jump the 2 pads together and then it puts the receiver in link mode to allow easy flash access.
It sounds like the flash is corrupt, P223 is the latest so it won't update from there, you will need to load a virgin flash, zero and remarry the harddrive as it may be corrupt too. I would full zero it, which will take a few hours to complete.

I think Skinerd is right. Maybe u did something wrong when backing up your Flash. The 223 is the latest update. Open up the saved Flash with Flashedit if the file opens with no problem then it was saved correctly ... you can create a virgin flash from your original copy with flashedit. After that erase the flash2 on your 501 as it may be corrupt, don't mess with flash1, as it will take care of itself.

You might need a yellow rom card for the ird to power up (maybe not, as mine has only asked for the yellow card when I flash it with a version older that 223)

if you'r still having problems with the ird, come back and give us the input.

I am haveing same problem with a 501, (I have a virgin TSOP), but I can get it to start programming but once it gets to 9% done, it looses something.

Than unless I turn it off & back up all i get are DCU register errors.

If you exited jkeys after erasing the tsop, you may have to edit the jkeys def file to get back in....

what edits are you referring to in jkeys?

Skinerd, do you have the full information on this for the 501? I have one, erased flash 2, everything went fine. My brother, well, he erased both of them and did exit jkeys. Now, when he hits program, it comes back with an error...
"The Flash codes returned are not recognized by jkeys. Mfg/Device codes returned are FFFFFFFF/FFFFFFFF(JEDEC) and FFFFFFFF/FFFFFFFF (FlashFile).
I never ran into this before so I don't know where to lead him. I told him I woluld be over to fix it but he couldn't wait 30 minutes. Thanks in advance/

As a matter of fact I ran into this error myself when bringing back to life my 501.

I erased Flash2 completely (always do, cause quick ecm fix has never worked for me), then after erasing I exited jkeys, and ran the program again to see if it had really erased the flash (bad mistake), I got the same error messg you did.

How I fixed it was pluging off the IRD, and exit jkeys. pulled off the jtag cable from IRD, then plugged it back into jtag port, plugged IRD back into the power source (dont turn it on, just plug it into the power outlet), immediately after that, open jkeys (Im using verion 2.9.1) it should at least detect the IRD type, if not, select it from the list and then hit the program flash buton, click the OK button ... it should enter the programming mode now... now write your flash2

tell us how it goes.

Well, I just brought his box back and tried it. Getting the same results as before. It is able to tell what model it is (501), but when I hit flash programming, it still gives the same results. The error I get when I hit programming is "Error reading from DCUControl register". Then when I click OK, it says "could not initiate access". The programming window opens, but will not let me use the erase, read or program options.

I did read Skinerds post about the 301's, but that was dealing with 2mb files. The backups I have are 4mb. Maybe I didn't get a full backup because the DIF files limit to 4mb? Skinerd, am I right? If not, lead me to the water. Thanks

501 files are 4meg.
Oj1 jumper will help DCU errors.
If it was modded with a 3 wire vid mod, the DCU may be damaged.

We didn't have to do a VID MOD since we had the DT chips. Everything worked right off the bat. Had MC2 in it when hit. Oh, he never did any mods... no blocker or locks.

the FFFF/FFFF flash file and FFFF/FFFF jedec errors can be overcome, but NOTHING will work if you get DCU control register errors. Only recomendation to get past those is the OJ1 jumper, try that, if it don't work, then you have a problem that a better jtag or different PC may help with.

IRDFlash, 8, "Flash 1(U6-29DL323)", 0x2250, 0x7F800000, 0x400000, 2, 2, 0
IRDFlash, 8, "Flash 2(U7-29DL323)", 0x2250, 0x7FC00000, 0x400000, 2, 2, 0

the edit to the def file, IF you get past the DCU errors, would be to change 0x2250 to 0xFFFF in the above lines in the def file.
That will allow jkeys to accept FFFF as the descriptor for the flash and jkeys will allow you to erase or write to it.

Actually editing the def file to change all instances of 0x2250 to 0xFFFF would be best.
