View Full Version : Ecm Fix
Can someone verify the following. I have read somewhere that you can actually recover from : location ID 00000001 on DP 301.10 by shorting 2 points on the receiver. By connecting P293 and ground it for a few seconds. the receiver will blink a few times reboots itself and get the update from the stream. Can anyone verify this and has it work ?

I can't verify that it works for the 301 but it does work for 2700/2800 and 3800/3900 IRD's. It is not the best way to recover but it can be used. No one has done any long term study to see what damage result. Use the "Junkyard Fix" at your oqn risk as is with all testing!
thanks. u mean this fix works on 3900 too.
what points needs to be shorted on the 3900?
thanks

SB39 to SB40 for 3900.
Look in the other thread for the 301, Seems new threads keep getting started on the same question.
JY doesn't hurt anything no matter how many times you do it, The problem people run into is shorting the wrong points or touching other things while doing it. I have IRD's that have been jy'd hundreds of times already still working fine. I actually drill a hole in the back and put a pushbutton in with the jy points soldered to the switch.

The 2700/2800 is SB105 to SB39. I have managed to get a 3900 reset using these points instead of SB39 to SB40. It took many times though........guess I should use the right ones, huh?
Whoooooooh! THat was fast! BirdieMod, I tried your 3800/3900 instructions and BAM! started updating immediately. Good job! :)

I've been doing this fix on a 2700, 3700 and 3900 for 5 years. THey are all still working and all but the 3900 have my custom "ECM Recovery" switch in the back. It's all about "Testing", trying something we are told we can't do. :p

Wookie - Why dont you have the switch on the 3900? Just didnt get around to it or cant be done?
Birdie - To put that switch on the 301.10, since it needs to be grounded and only touch 1 pad, would it be better to solder one part of the switch on the chasis itself or just solder the wire to the chasis and then to the switch? Thanx.

I was had not put the switch in because I was getting inconsistent results from resetting the TSOP. Like I said above, I was using SB39 and SB105 like I was on the other IRD's. Now, however, I see I was using one wrong contact point SB105. It should be SB40. I tried using those points during this last ECM and got an instant reset. NOW I can put the switch on! :p
When I used SB105 it would take 10 or 15 tries to get it reset. I don't have schematics of the 3900, so I'm not sure what I was doing to the TSOP without knowing it. It still works fine though. So the lesson is READ, READ, READ before you go shorting things out like me! LOL
After the switch is installed in the 3900, how many seconds do you hold the button in to make a reset?

With the Cam out of the IRD, hold for 13 seconds on the 3900. The 2700 & 3700 just hold it down until the light turns off.
on 3900 ground SB39 to chasis for 1 sec. after power on .
Toma,
Are you just grounding SB39 for a reset? Earlier in this thread, they were saying to short SB39 and SB40 to get a reset for a 3900. Are you doing something different?
