I'm new to Dish, so please be easy on me......I have a 2700 and it was ecmed last night, I think. The screen said my receiver had a serious problem; all I can get is Channel 103. Anyway, I jtagged it and erased everything and wrote the flash back to it. The receiver worked last night, but this morning same thing again. Do I just go in and erase Sa5 several times then hook up receiver and let it update in the stream? What's the difference in erasing the whole thing and writing flash back as to just erasing a certain part? Also, does a Rom2 or Rom3 have anything to do with a receiver getting hit? I had just programmed a Rom3 and was using this in the receiver when it got hit. I hope it was just a coincidence. Sorry for so many ??????? Thanks for any help.

The ECM comes almost hourly. All you need to do is erase SA5 and reprogram that sector only. You'll keep getting hit until you use a different blocker. Use the new checksum blocker in the files section.

I'm really fixing to show my ignorance now so please bear with me. Will putting a blocker on my card keep my receiver from being hit?

Erase SA5 3 x, and restream. I would subscribe to Mili's blocker if I were you. It is great.

Ok, the blocker is for the card right? Will that stop the receiver from being hit? I had a Rom2 card in at the time; it doesn't need a blocker does it? The first time it was hit I had the Rom 3 card in it with No64 on it. Is the card what is causing the receiver to be hit?

The blocker goes on the card after the tiers but it spoofs the rev of the card to a current rev(383) to avoid certain types of ECM's. It protects the card yes. Certain other factors will make you a target for an ECM like an invalid camID or ppv strings that are not within Charlies current range( he changes them now and then to try and catch ranges that don't match).Rom 2's generally don't need a blocker but still require a valid camid.
So your problem could be a bad blocker, an invalid camID, or ppv tiers. Mili's blocker pkg. has been up for over a year with only occasional ppv changes needed, he mails these new tiers out as needed to subscribers.

Is the blocker only for Rom's cards or is it good for atmega cards?
Thanks

Thanks, receiver is up and going for now w/ Rom2 that has been working for over a month. Changed Cam ID on Rom3 and will try it later after I see if receiver is going to be hit again w/ Rom2. I appreciate your patience.......
