Hey guys,

I have a 501 that i got off of ebay broken. the red and green light are both on. both the chips are dt chips so i know it doesnnt need to be vidmodded. when i try to red it in jkeys ( every version i could get my hands on including *the301 508 ver*) all i get is the model number everything elso is blank.

i grounded pad on and did the OJI jumper. when i use the 301/508 jkeys I get a dcucotrol register NOTHING WORKS!

When i use anyother vewrsion of jkeys i dont get the error mentioned above but i **Got** the flash returned not recogonized ( they were FFFFFFFFFF) so i edit the def file for jkeys and i got thru the hurdle.

However when i select my receiver type from the drop down menu and i attempt to erase either U6 or U7 it erased it fast at least i thought When i attempted to reflash flash 2 and even 1( i know im not suppose to but I was like wtf) it says that the flash selected isnt blank. i clik thru it and i get an error message cant write flash...blah blah blah..

As a last resort i tried to JYF it, i soldierd a 30guage wire between the two point w not card in the receiver and the sat feed plugged in i powered up the receiver and cut the wire joinging the 2 points i tried severl times and even let it sit overnight NOTHING! my dish is pointing at the 119 and the 110,

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG! Should i just chuck the Fking reciver of the roof and call it a day?

Sounds like the flashes are corrupted, at the very least, enough so that only a complete reflash will recover it.
It is also possible the PVR is screwed up.
You say you grounded pad1 and OJ1,?? why both,?? OJ1 is enough.
I would try to get it jtagging, and the flashes erased.

Jkeys 2.9.11 (026) seems to wrk best for me on a 501.
The def file may need editing, but you will need an error of 4x4 digits, FFFF/FFFF, or FFFF/3130 etc, not FFFFFFFF/FFFFFFFF, in order to successfully do it.

My 501 did the same thing, Reflashing it corrected the problem.
The only bad part ended up being how the flashes were corrupted in the first place, Turned out the max chip had issues and it cannot lock signal long enough to properly update thus causing it to corrupt.

Thanks for the responses Birdie and skinerd

i have tried it with just OJI and pad 1. When i got the receiver it was in some kinda cycle, like a short it would turn of then on and the red abd green light would come on. thats probably what messed up the flash i kept pluging it on and out and eventually it stopcycling off and th e red and green light stayed on.

is there anyhing i can do to it to make it get the 4X4 FFFF/FFFF ?

The only thing you can do is jump th e OJ1 connection, jtag it, once you get the device ID for the CPU, do not unplug or reset it again.
then go to flash programming, and see what error you get. If you still get FFFFFFFF/FFFFFFFF then it is not connunicating with the flashes. Is there a lock?

i tried jtaging again using a buffered jtag with no luck i have the OJI jumped and im getting the chip and the model number but everthing else is blank. I tried several time and the device/mfg keeps comming back 8XF (FFFFFFF/FFFFFFF) so i edited the def and it lets me continue but the flashes are NEVER blank when i erase them and when i try to program i get an error.

I thoght this would be a perfect canadite for the jyf but thats net even working

FFFFFFFF/FFFFFFFF will NEVER allow you to do anything with the flashes.
The JYF corrupts part of the flash, but there must still be enough uncorrupted to allow basic operation or it will not update.
If oyur jtag pulls the device id and model, then it is working fine.......you have a communication problem somewhere and it is not allowing flash access.
I get that error on ocassion, but usually restarting jkeys clears it up.

Try starting jkeys, then plugging the PVR in, then hit detect in jkeys very quickly, like withing 2 seconds of plugging in, see if that helps.

well i got that forever on a 510 that has jtag pads so i wired a jtag in anyway and it worked fine after that
