tivo and testing

ok i was wondering if you have a tivo system and its hooked up to the phone line and the tivo system connects to you home tivo and your tivo is connected to a test receiver can the tivo system detect that the receiver is being tested?
if yes is there a way to block it?

The way tivo works is you choose your provider (sat, cable, etcetera) from an onscreen menu, the tivo then downloads the program guide information through the phone line or ethernet connection based on what provider you specify. It can't detect anything except whether or not a video signal is being sent to it. It can't detect your receiver type. You could choose a different provider than the one you're using, but the guide information might be screwy (different channel #'s for different providers).
