View Full Version : cable box
I know I've seen it here before but can't find it. I am going to subscribe to basic cable from my local cable company when dish goes down. Is there a good reliable cable box out there that will open my channels up or something like that, that will do the job? Something that the cable company can not detect on there end?

I dont think so wtp, I work for the cable company and the only way I know how to get free ppv or porn is to buy a digital box and there is a filter you can put on the back of box on the "in" spigot. Cable boxes are two way reading, which means they communicate with the cable office. That filter prevents the office from reading your box. It can send to it but it cant read from it. So you can order and receive the ppv event or porno and they wont know who ordered it.
BUTT!!!
after 10 or 15 movies or events the digital boxes memory fills up and you can not purchase anymore movies or events. If you take the filter off and plug the cable in you will be billed for those movies and ppv events. There is info out there on how to clear the memory but its bull shit and it doesnt work. I have tried them all and had no success.
I dont even know if the filter will still work. i havent tried it in a little over a year. They may have combatted that by know.
I thought there was something out there, oh well maybe not. This basic cable from the pole to the house. I do know they screw in diffrent filters on there for different programing becuase I seen that. I just thought there was something to open the channels up.

Every so often the cable companies poll their receivers. If your receiver is behind a filter it cannot reply, and they will shut it down. If you remove the filter your receiver will send the ppv info.

this is from Bcup in another thread
Here is the fix:
Go around the neighborhood and sign up as many as you can to your own private cable distribution network. String your own cable to all the once that you sign up, add cheap signal amplifiers and share the cost of a full cable subscription.
Works for me.
Of course it helps when you're on good term with your neighbors, but wireless technology can get you past the grumpy neighbor who wants no part of it. (If you don't want to dig a trench through his back yard at night, he, he).

wtp those filters your talking about remove different channel packages. you can climb the pole and unscrew those then you will get all of the analog channels but you need a digital box to receive the specialty channels. You wont get those for free, you have to subscribe or do what bolstodawall said to do and share a sub. I wouldnt do it his way though. I would have everyone sub to basic cable and share a sub for the digital boxes. Put the digital boxes on your subscription and charge your friends or neighbours a fee for the box and programming. As long as they are in the same town it will work. That is the smart way, rather then running cables across your neighbours yards. You will get caught doing that. My way you wont get caught unless you or one of your shared subs invite a cableguy into there house to do a repair. Even then he probably wont care! The cable company cant tell where they are reading the box from.

Break the "Terminator" off with pipe wrench. Looks like triple AAA battery. Just trace your cable line to it on the pole. Then screw your cable back in. You have free cable. But you wont have digital. I have been doing it for years at my rental house.

lol, thanks mopar. I'll have to see if I can get the cover off with out breaking it.

Find the right tool at E-bay. Boy they got tools for cable that I think even the Cable Co. dosen't!!! I think I will be doing the same thing real soon if an N2 hack is not found soon!

My connection was up on a pole. I got a ladder and climbed up to take the terminator off. My brother-in-law works for the local cable company and gave me the tool to take it off with.
I have seen those cable boxes on the ground but never have dealt with one. I have heard people getting into them but dont know anything about it.

all you need is a small finishing nail and a pair of needle nose pliers.
No "special tool required.
Inssert nail in sleeve and rotate until it hits something inside. That is the push pin you need to apply a little pressure to in order to use the pryers to gengly unscrew (By the inside).
Do not unscrew by the outside or you will be there until a hack is released for sure.

I know if you are caught in Ontario stealing the signal (peeps do get caught0
you be in for mucho large fine and banned from having cable ever again .

Maybe... but they still need to prove that you had anything to do with the hook up.
there are an average of between 10 to 20 pots in the panel in the post. It would be very easy for a cable guys to mistakenly do the wrong one, and once the legit sub calls in without service, they just go back and connect without bothering the other ones.
TRUST ME... THERE ARE ALOT OF THING YOU CAN TELL THE COMPANY and they would then just leave you alone.
They have a list of acceptable reasons one could state to them, once done, claim is trown out.
I know what I am talking about!

HMMMM .That's good news .
So even if it's evident that someone has tampered with the connection they still have to prove it was you ?
tbelisle

Yup!
Now, if the evidence were somehow gathered from inside the home, that would be a different story. (Search warrant required tought!)
Anybody can tamper with outside conections, the burden of proff lies with them to prove you did it!

You have to be a complete retard to get fined in ontario. I know Rogers cable caught a guy on video and he got fucked in court. But as a rule it costs the cable company way to much money to take people to court. Usually they just keep sending a tech back to disconnect the cable until you get sick of coming home to no tv and you give in and subscribe.
cablecowboy
04-06-2005, 11:13 PM
and no, you dont get banned for life. You can sign up right on the spot with the guy whos disconnecting you. Trust me I know! that tech works on commission and piece work and he wants the sale.

After you take the terminator off drill it out. Cut the connector off the cable and put a new
end on with the center wire and center insulation long enough to feed through the hole
you drilled in the terminator. Looks like you are still disconnected.

lol purple frost, I've caught a few people doing that over the years. It's not the best reception but its hard to get caught.

or you can go on ebay and purchase a "cable pro" or a "Gilbert tool" . Cable pros are cheaper.

sj, try to locate the main cable box there should be some filters on the line you need to remove them. In canada they are about 3-4 inches long and they have different colour stripes on them. the stripe tells the cable guy which channel package is being disconnected. They just unscrew. the filters might be in the box or "CSE" on the side of the house, in a ground box or "ped" or up in the air on a pole or cable line. Old neighbourhoods are in the air and new neighbourhoods are underground.

This system is state of the art, all digital computer controlled. They just repalced everything last year. I used to have the filters for all the good channels from a friendly (and hungry) cable guy.
The only thing they have is splitter junction boxes, nothing in them, for the different feeds to different houses, no filters, no boxes, nothing, we have no in the house boxes except if you have road runner you have a lan modem.
Thanks anyway Sj :)

I heard there is a way to hack into the signals, ID has some stuff on it. The signals are all there all the time you just have to have a 'black box' tap into them, you can hit any cable and get nothing, no readable signal, but if you tap a subbed line you can split the signal and get whatever they are paying for.
And it's all done by computer now. No boxes, No filters, No treminators
Oh well something will come up to beat this new system one day too.

My cable box was open I took out the filter. Drilled a hole through it. Put a solid wire (inner core with insulation of RG6) put it back in the box. ;)
No one knew, I was getting all analoge signals for about 2 years. Then I took it out myself, as I dont want to steal signal from both dish and cable. ;)

In the desert we had buried everything. I got tired of cable prices going up every other month so I canceled, dug down to the cable on both sides of the hook up box and tapped the into both wires with a jumper. It looked like it was disconnected from above ground.
How do you hack the digital cable tuners if you already have cable internet. You have to get a smart card for the tuner Scientific Atlanta 3200 model. Some say if you got internet you may get digital cable all free. Anyone have any info thank you.
well I took the terminator cover off and hook up my cable. Lasted about 2wks and then it was off. I have not taken the cover off to see if they disconnected it or not. Now I have to figure something else out.
