Dish 500 Legacy Twin LNB with 2800

I connected my Dish 500 Legacy Twin LNB with my only receiver 2800, but I am having a hard time to aim my dish. I just could not pick any signal. I just connected the 119 connect to the receiver directly. Did I do it right? Do i need any switch?

no you dont need a switch unless you want to run 2 dishes. the 500 should have an internal switch. you should also for safety use a ground block in line between your dish and IRD. the azimuth, elevation and skew points givin are a generalized area of where to find bird in your location. you will need to fine tune it to lock it in. first set the azimuth and elevation to the 119. and then follow prompt's on screen to setting the skew for the 110. takes a little time. be sure signal for the 119 is the highest possible before setting skew.
