My 2700 is only showing 101-103. I tried the junkyard fix of jumping 49 to 50 and it didnt work. Tried the dump by remote control with same results. I dont JTAG so I need some other means if anybody has one. This is my backup receiver so I can stand to lose it if I fry it.

Have you updated the public keys, titles and black screen can come with old keys, I just updated my kids card and it showed 2 channels, titles only until the keys rolled (3 min)

Update: Just did another this one took 15 minutes to roll.

2700-2800 is a easy J-Tag, you can put one togeather for $ 10 in 15 - 20 minutes. plans in files, parts you don't have at Radio Shack.

Better check Location ID, if at 000000001, you have been hit and the only thing left is to J-tag. Otherwise do check switch and let download.

open reciever
hook up and power on so you see channel 101 on tv screen
jump sb39 and sb40 for 30 seconds then remove jumper

screen will go black
donot touch anything untill it powers it self back on from 3 to 30 minutes
once back on and says searching for signal do checkswitch
by hitting menu 6,1,1, on remote select chaeck switch and select test
after its done counting to 38 should show 119 odd and even and 110 odd and even

turn off reciever
put cover back on
turn reciever back on
after it searches for signal will have all channels again

make sure to put a good blocker on card first if using a bad blocker it will just get hit again

this works everytime

(i use momentary switch that way when it gets hit i just push button)
(rat shack part number 275-1547 donot use 275-1548)

I have read reports that say dish writes something to the eeprom also, making
the jyf useless for ecm repair. You have to write a virgin eeprom. Since you have to do that, you might as well fix the receiver the proper way by jtag. Use the flashedit
ecm fix function and write the fixed tsop file back to the receiver. Then you will have a good backup tsop file for the next time.

that is not true and even if it was you can jump eeprom too and it will rewrite itself

i have used jyf since it came out with no probs

people only say it will hurt your reciever so you buy a jtag

only problem with jyf is you wont fry it, you eventullay lose the whole flash, and youll
have to reflash with a jtag no way around that, the stream will not reflash some things, appeared to
be (dead reciever with no light at all comming on) =still can be ressurected, done plenty
like this in the past (build a simple jtag at least)

you will not lose flash if you are patient and wait for it to come back on without messing with it

I would like to say thanks for the complete details for the jyf. I followed them to a T and it worked. Have a working receiver again. Thanx again mk14r!
