That's up to mili, I sugested a DVB and BUD section.
How many of those channels can be tuned depends your location and on the size of the dish you use.
Some of them are over or almost over the horizion for some people.
Stick a dish LNB on one of these and you will never have rain fade again hehehe

I've got a big dish taking up space in my back yard. Are you serious that if I put my dish lnb on it and aim it at 119 I'll eliminate the weather problems with rain and snow?
Thanks, us newbies really appreciate it.

It will give you a much better signal and will not be bothered by rain, snow, trees, clouds as much as the 18" dish's are.
The dish collects the signal and concentrates it into a amall area where the LNB is, much like a magnafing glass collects and aims a sunbeam, did you ever start a fire with a little magnafing glass when you were a kid ?
The suns rays are not strong enough to start a fire but when tou concentrate them with a glass it's hot enough to start a fire.
Think of the fire you could start with a 12" glass !
Sat signals are the same, the bigger the dish the stronger the signal at the antenna, the antenna is actually a little wire inside the LNB, On the BUd LNA the wire can be seen in the feedhorn (LNA) it is 3/4 of a inch long and rotates to get different transponders that LNB's use the SW21 to change.
SO if you have a bigger dish you have a stronger signal and some loss due to rain snow or clouds doe not matter as much.
People in the Carribean use BUD dishes with LNB's attached all the time to get Dish and Bev all the time, that are so far out of the footpring they need the extra signal. So do people in far northern Canada.

Thanks for the BUD info Smiling Jack. One more stupid newbie question then I'll shut up for a week or two.......Is there a difference in the lnb for DirTv vs dishnet or can the dishes really be used interchangeably?
Thanks again and God Bless

DTV & Dish & Bev use the same frequency and the LNA's can be used on any of the three. The multiple head one's look the worng places to be interchangable. Use single units. (possible but troublsone need conversion)
Yes there is a difference. They are totally different, They use a different frequency and transmission format.
The BUD dish can be used with Dish and BEV LNB's because it does not care what it reflects, that's all a dish is a reflector to reflect and concentrate the signals to the LNA or LNB which is the actual "Antenna"
The Bev and Dish 'dishes' are too small to catch enough signal to use with BUD.
BUD is a very weak signal. You need at least 6' (FEET) of dish to get them.

Thanks once again Smiling Jack. Will go back and study the newbie files some more before I ask any more dumb questions.

Make sure it's a KU compatable BUD. Some of the older mesh and perf BUD's would let too much of the signal go right through the holes.

got a 10 ft aluminum dish with a ku and c band lnb will this work with a pansat 2500a? and i think i will need some kind of dish mover box is this correct? or do i have to dig out my uniden
smilingjack

Yes you can, for those channels listed as KU or C band, for Dish or Bev channels you will have to add a Dush/Bev/DTV LNB (strap it on you will have pleanty of signal)
They sell dishmovers that work with the IRD automaticly or you can build one that is manual operated, cheaper, it's all in how much you want to spend on it and how much you want to find sats by hand.
If you do not have a dish set up that has a 'horizon to horizon' pivot built in you will have to add one, most come with the pivot built in and a rigid 'arm' that can be adjusted manualy by losening a bolt which can be changed to a mortor driven 'arm'.

i think i have a old genral instrument dish nover box in the shed hope i didnt throw it away gunna look tomorrow.. do i need to do anything special to the pansat to recieve cband channels?
smilingjack

It will have to be reprogrammed to 'see' the Ku C-Band signals iof you have a BEV/Dish program on it.. The factory software may have that capability or you can get a program for it.

Ok ---------- a lot of talk about dishes and lna and lnb, how about receivers? how do you test c-band ? are you reprograming receivers? are those receivers have cards? are you programing cards? what software do you use?
just some Q's in regards to c-band testing
( don't know nothing about c-band, just want to get some light on the subject )

how do you test 4dtv receivers?
Prince_frog
04-13-2005, 02:21 AM
To test you have to have one of the old decoders ( black box ) then you can
modify the black box yourself and you can even find a few people that
still modify them .. and i think the current code is called autoroll 602
this code will allow you to test some of the older Video Cipher channels
that are still running the old Video Cipher signal as far as i know
there is no public code to test VC2+ or Video Cipher Renewble Security
Hope this Helps

Yes truckdriver ihas been into them from the start and he said they were still using VCll and the black boxes, and that they were hacked but not many bother decause DTV BEV & dish are so easy and much better programming onthem.
I think I still have mine at the bottom of a pile of DTV IRD's.
