I have enjoyed free TV for the last 5 years thanks to people like MILI and web sites like this. Now I believe that time is coming to a close. I have worked in the computer industry for quite awhile and have talked to several people about the 512 encryption which is now being used by Dave and unfortunately Charley. The shear processing power needed to break the inception is incredible and would take every computer on the planet years to break. I don’t want to bring doom and gloom, but if the inceptions could have been broke it would have been done when Dave went down last year. We all know there were enough financial motives last year to work around the new system. Is this the end only time will tell but its my bet it will quite awhile before we see anything but true FTA.

Hate to burst your bubble but the several people you have talked to need to look further into 512 bit decoding.
There are numerous accounts of people who have broken 512 bit encryption. In some cases under 5 mins.
Do I think this N2 (whatever that means) will be broken? Well DUH!.
I have come here to overview torrents. I really don't care about free tv. eventually what you are watching today will make it's way to my rabbit ears.
The Most secure computer systems in the world operated by the CIA are broken into several times every year. and they are based on a superior encryption of two-fish and have larger algorythms than can be found on a $5 piece of plastic and a receiver that is mass produced for about 30 bucks a piece in UK.
For those of you who are hearing inside info on a hack being impossible, the people offering this observation have given up and will probably never have the persistence to complete the task.
I would suggest you visit sites that have made their name by reverse engineering encryption products, not take input from folks made their name selling and supporting.
In the end you will discover a lot of the vendors are just being led around.

When I see xxx porn on my rabbit ears I will truely know that man kinds society is coming to an end. I will admit if the new system can be broke it will now.
Doc stick to the torrents please. We are talking PRACTICAL not THEORETHICAL and definately not THEARTICAL here. Exploits don't neccessarily mean a CRACK as rarely did in the past most likely going for the underbelly but my point stays and I will eat my hat if proven wrong: ANY exploits will have to revolve around a N2 card. Forget totally standalone hacks like Atmegas.

You have few more options, although some might cost u little money. like splitting cost for dish with 4 of your buddies. going to FTA is another option.
I am kinda excited cuz I ll be testing FTA pretty soon, and for me its fun to mess around satellites and find out what i get when i point a dish at a sky. Now Free TV is also a great thing, I love watchin PPV events especially Boxing events.
There comes a point i guess when you ask yourself do you just want Free TV or do you really want to test new things.
Is P4 or N2 hackable? I am sure it is, nothing is 100% proof. Weather it be with inside information or some luck. However since nothing is out yet, i would take this oportunity to do something else and learn something new.
What are you going to watch on FTA when the swap is complete? Even if there is a N2 exploit rest assured no FTA receiver will work with it.

Whatever the FTA has available. (besides dish listings) looking for probably foreign channel line up. I also want GolTV channel for soccer games.
If there would be N2 exploit I would be on it like a fat kid on a candy.
I would love to test Globecast cuz it has some foreign channels i want and if they have ALL WorldCUP matches showing then thats great.

Now if you'd only change "napoleon" back to "Chief dog catcher", all would be right in the world.
"Pushin my luck aren't I?"
I got no problem with fair criticism. Now I will remain your soverign for a few more days though (have to keep up the appearances you know).

I have been reading and testing FTA for a few months now. I was reading in one thread that you can receive network feeds. With the right equipment their could be some channels out there. Im mite try in the near future. Here is a post from elseware. Here's the latest True FTA list for North America.
This list has all C and Ku band FTA that is viewable from the 50 US states and most of Canada. It's better organized than the Dish 2000 list for FTA in that the channels are grouped by satellite-- the exception being the locals and network section.
The list is organized as follows:
1-99 Locals and Networks (both C and Ku band FTA)
100-199 C-band English FTA
200-299 Ku-band English FTA
300-399 C-band Foreign FTA
400-499 Ku-band Foreign FTA
500-599 Globecast/L5 FTA
650-699 Religious Channels
700-799 University and homeschool courses
801-814 G3 Equity mux (temporary until channels are moved)
900-999 HDTV
This would be a good list for when there's an ECM and the fix is three weeks away-- the situation we all were in a couple months ago. It's also a good list of any FTA "purists" you might know who are squeamish about hacking.
A second list has been added for those for whom a C-band dish is not an option. It has all Ku-band satellites viewable from North America. The channel arrangement is as follows:
1-99 Locals
300-399 English
400-499 Foreign
650-699 Religious
700-799 University/Homeschool and HD
A few things are worth mentioning for the newbies: First, you cannot get any of these channels with an 18" dish and Dave/Dish LNB (except for NASA and the music channels on 91 and 119). You need a Ku dish and linear LNB for the Ku FTA and you need a BUD if you want to get the C-band stuff-- which is so much better anyway.

Im not sure whats there that not going to be N2ed

You can rave about FTA all you want, same with all the channels you can get too.
Fact is 90% of those channels are encripted.
BUD and DVB people are in the same fix FTA, dish, Bev and DTV people are. .....encription
C-Band encripts with Video cypher l l which can be hacked but not seen by FTA without the hacks.
It also encripts with another system that has not been hacked.
Ku band is also encripted with a system that has not been hacked.
So the FTA crowd is limited to those channels that are not encripted. Mostly foreign language and non premium.
This thread is about N2 hack claims and is not a place to discuss or hoo haa FTA.
Only time will tell if mili is right or wrong, but I would bet on mili and start buying plastic. It works in (some) FTA too.
Please move your discussion to the FTA forum.

Also I suggest buying a new keyboard, this one you have has its caps lock STUCK.
